What did you do with your Lightning today

I run 15.1 at cruise and get ~17-18 mpg on the highway with the 393 cubic inch motor and 3.73 gears . Idle about 14.5 when it's warmed up.

FWIW, 14.1:1 is stoichiometric for maximum benefit emissions-wise. If you're not running emissions equipment, it really doesn't mean anything. You'll produce more oxides of nitrogen at leaner levels, excess carbon at richer, but it's just a number if you don't have emissions equipment on your truck. Tune it for how it runs best.

Waiting to get my truck inspected so I can start removing the driver's bed side. That's my only winter project.

Were you able to locate an NOS bedside for it?

Thanks Jeff! I did more tuning last night and got the vacuum up to 13 at 875rpm and idled better at 14.5-14.7. Still smells rich but I’m ordering some cats to take care of that.

Does anyone know if there is a certain range or threashold that the AFR needs to be in for cats? I’ve heard some things but just want to be sure.

I haven’t heard that. All pumps around here are up to 10% ethanol.

But I’m wondering why it smells rich at 14.7.

Ray, with the cam you have, what AFR are you running at idle?

Just saw this, I run around 14.4 to 14.7 I've run it leaner but didn't really notice a difference. Mine seems to idle around 950-1000 and I can pop it in gear or out of gear all day long with no issues. It will also sit and idle in traffic all day and not complain so I haven't wanted to change anything. Although I do plan on playing with idle timing to get vacuum up.

Honestly I'd never tune by smell, I've seen so many people do that and end up running way lean. Plus when you're running on E85 it just smells like French fries LOL.

If not, id get them from Gary. He makes the best Repops on the market..

No, I haven't bought anything yet except the tools I need to remove the panels. I'm all for advice or guidance on who or where to get them. I'm keeping my eyes open for a pristine bed, but I'd at least like to get the damaged sides replaced until I find one.

I'm just going to use panel epoxy to glue the sides on for the time being and will probably shoot some paint myself just to get things somewhat lined out with a longer-term view to a full bed replacement and perhaps a full repaint.

I have no idea. Brett is referring to decals I believe I meant that whole bedside. I hear the shops all use the panel epoxy now

Ok thanks Ray! That’s where I’m at now and seems to be better vacuum and overall acts a better. It does have a nasty chop to it at a about 16.1.. and lol on the French fries!

Not much time to spend on the lightning this year because of the full house gut but I was able to get the big tires off and some used 315 pro radials mounted so I can figure out what wheels I will need to buy.

Spent last night cleaning up my springs getting ready to be powdercoated, I am hoping the extra cleaning on my part means they'll have to do less and it'll be cheaper to PC. I *really* need a sandblaster...

I cleaned up some wiring on my battery terminals. Almost finished the xim install. Just waiting on the coils to get here. Added this neat little switch panel and finished my dash with a new bezel and overlay. Im happy with how it all turned out so far.

There's two different kind. The one kind is split loom braided I found on amazone. The other stuff jamie found that is not split. Its like a chinese finger trap. Have to have the ends un-terminated for that kind. Its more of a pain to do, but looks soooooo much nicer when done. I made my engine harness in that too.
