Things are starting to come together

LOL you guys are funny. As a couple of you guys know my work is basically 14-16 hour days right now (and that is down from last month) so I have spent zero time with the truck. I did have part of yesterday off, but that was spent on marriage preservation :)

Probably a good choice!

Between work, the holidays, NLOC upgrades, family stuff etc I haven’t had a lot lot of time or energy to work on the truck. But today I finally had a day to myself. 6 deg axle shims are installed and it looks like I have around -2.5 deg angle, I’ll take it. Also got the new rear VSS wired up.

One thing I did not like about the Bell shim kit was the spring center bolts. They are cut to fit and really small. So I ordered new socket head cap screws about 1/4” longer than I had so the head would still align in the spring perch hole. They had a bit of a shoulder so I made spacers by drilling out grade 8 nuts.

Also love these Deutsch connectors!

After the Stifflers drama I have been hesitant to post my latest issue, but what the hell. So after the Stifflers stuff and my truck being too low for them I bought CalTracs. All seemed good, when mocking them up I did see the bars were too long because of the ride height of the truck. No big deal I picked up the correct length after Calvert tech told me how to measure. After getting the 6 deg leaf spring shims in I went to torque everything down (instructions say 100 ft/lbs) I heard a loud click at about 65 or 70 ft/lbs. Then noticed one of the bolts would not longer tighten down. Low and behold I see the CalTrac axle bracket is deformed. Take it apart and I am greeted with what's in the 1st two pics below. I contact Calvert and they are super cool, as soon as they looked at the pics they immediately sent me a replacement bracket. While waiting I grabbed another torque wrench thinking maybe mine is hosed up. But I tested mine and it is good. I got the replacement bracket and went to install it, just for good measure I used the other torque wrench, but same thing around 65-70 ft/lbs. That is the 3rd and 4th pics. It just so happens I've been talking with Gary about this and he showed me pics of his old CalTrac mounts. Look how much better the old style mount is!

Dang you have me worried about mine now. I didn't hear any problems when mounting mine, but I also used a Dewalt impact instead of a torque wrench. I will for sure be looking under my truck as I have the same brackets! :sneaky:

Still no reply from Calvert! However Gary A was awesome enough to sell me a pair of the old style brackets he had. Torqued right to 100 ft/lbs no problem. Thanks Gary!
