Isn't AWD just full time 4 wheel drive? Just lock in 4WD high? Is there more to it?
 
I'm really surprised it's not more popular in the v8 ranger crowd, 4wd ranger and a explorer transfer case...practically bolts in
 
Most awd transfer cases have a viscous coupling to make up for slight variations between the front wheels and rear.

Lmao. First time I put my used beater Escape in 4x4 mode (during a light snow, just wanted to check it out) I went right around in a circle, swapped ends due to a slight circumference difference between the front and rear tires.

How did you put it in 4x4 mode? Mine doesn't have any provisions to do that....other then the brake trick to get it to lock in.
