Nan and I visited the track and met with Jeff (the owner) last Friday, 1 July. We were also were joined by the Drag Race Director, Shawn and together had a GREAT pre-LightningFest meeting.:tu:

We had a list of questions and concerns, but Jeff answered all of them to our satisfaction. This is the list with the responses from KCIR:
  • The vendors may setup on the track starting at noon on Thursday the 22nd. The track will not have security on Thursday night!
  • We can open the track each day at 7:00 AM, but there will be NO NOISE (read loud engines) until 10 AM!
  • Both spectator and participant registration will be conducted by the NLOC.
  • Participants will park in the pits, and spectator parking will be in the grass area just outside the pits.
  • There is lots of participant parking area. A lot of paved and a lot of grass parking.
  • KCIR will run tech inspections and we (NLOC) will do the classification, and check for rule adherence.
  • KCIR will provide 5 security people for the event, starting the 23rd and through 5 PM on the 25th.
  • Racing fuel will be available from 8 AM to the closing each evening. Three fuel grades are available, 104 no lead, 110 and 112 leaded.
  • NOX is available at local speed shops which are ~6 minutes from the track.
  • The normal KCIR Friday night Test-N-Tune, is available to all event participants at no charge.
  • The Friday night BBQ feed will be at the track in an area away from the local drag participants.
  • KCIR will provide starters, time slip shack, tower and all other required personnel. We will augment the starting line folks as in previous events.
  • The true Street truck cruise will use the same route as the NMRA event this weekend at KCIR.

    AND
  • Camping is allowed at the track, but no hookups or showers are available.

The track seems to be bending over to be helpful and wants the annual event to stay at their track!:B2:
