Timing is supposed ot be set at 10* with Spout removed.

Spout = SPark OUTput, the timing signal sent form the ecu to the TFI module.

If you advance the static timing to 14 degrees you will add 4 degrees of timing to the advance at all times.

as far as i know, yes, the timing is the same for all the gen1, however, i believe there were/are two different computer "strategies"

you may incure "pinging" and that would eventually cause internal damage. but you may not incure that. i have a 88 F150 with a '84 351W HO and the timing is at 14* btdc and i dont have pinging. but some other work has been done to it....
