Things are starting to come together

Looked at the drivers side, these headers won’t work flipped. If you notice they are not even touching the cylinder head so if they were flat, they would be up against the oil filter adapter or darn close to it. Would be no way to run even a short filter.

The problem I have with the pre-built is that it is in no way returnable, so if they are not perfect I do not want to hack up a set of headers that START at $999.00.

If my skills were better, yeah I'd build a set from scratch. I bought these LS headers to hack and modify to get something that will work and then send them to a place to have a nice set that fits right, unless somehow I end up making a workable set LOL...

That's why I posted that it sucks the ICE kit is so much as you could build what you need with out all the cutting and welding.

Thanks again to Jeff for sending me a mock up turbo. Got some stuff tacked up so I can see where the driver's side is at. Tried some different locations and clockings. 1st few pics is with a 90 deg elbow clocked down a bit. 2nd is the flange right on the header, I kind of like it that way as it gives tons of room on the fender side, but sits up really high. I set a piece of crown molding across the fenders and there was still a gap, but I don't know if the turbo would be too close to the hood. I'll tack up the PS sometime this week or weekend hopefully.

Had more of a think and I am going to try a 30 deg bend. I’d like the turbo to sit like this. The 30 deg bend is also shorter (I think) which will bring it back a tad. But I def need room for the down pipe which I believe it has now.

if you like the flange right at the collector, can you just rotate the turbo housing and mount the flange vertical? (instead of the short 90º elbow) That would lower the turbo a couple of inches but shouldn't really move it forward much.

Hadn't thought of that! Worth a try, I will look for a cheap V-band flange. Thanks!

45 degree elbow came in today and it really looks perfect. I am still going to try the T4 flange right on the header, but I am worried about how close the turbo will be to the AC compressor.

Anyway, I like how this fits, not too close to anything on the inner fender and a nice straight shot to the High Ram. Obviously my coolant overflow and oil catch can need to move, but that's no problem.

I have one of those little cast 90s that I'm going to use on the white truck.

Should have the fuel system plugged back together tomorrow.

Next step, turbo.

Pretty sure I have room going by the oil filter back and down. I’ll run the short filter to be sure.

The prob i had was coming out of the housing. I wanted it as close as poss but i needed to be able to get the Vband clamp on. Closer i got to the mandrel bend, the bigger the pipe got because i was getting into the radius
