Copperhead

My little town installed a 300' track exactly 1 mile from my house about a month or two ago,....AND,... even though this is a lot shorter than I feel comfortable running,...it's just too much for me to resist,....being that close.
The event was scheduled to start late in the evening on Friday,.....and then back early the next morning on Saturday. I got off work around 4:30 or so on Friday and went home to get my truck ready for the next day, as I wasn't planning on running on Friday night,.....mainly due to time restraints and the fact that the entry fee was ONLY $10 that night,.....I figured it would bring out every junker within a 10 county radius would show up and said to myself that I didn't want to get into that mess.
ANYWAY,.....
Removed my N2O specific spark-plugs & Nitrous Bottle, installed my 315-Pro Radials, check the timing, and,..went over a couple of odds & ends on the truck, in preparation for Saturday's race. At 7 O'clock,...after I got done, the wife & I hopped in the car and headed over to spectate & see what was going on. Well,......after getting there and seeing that there was only 35-40 cars,...... I decided to go back home & get my Race-Truck.
I knew that I needed all the help I could get, especially considering this was basically a no rules, Last-Man Standing event,....AND,..on an un-prepped surface none-the-less. SO,... I swapped my radials out in favor of my Hoosier 31x16.50 Quick-Time Pro's and drove it to the event,...... aka Street Truck. :gl:
I made it all the way to the finals,....after about 4 rounds,..on Friday night,......and unfortunately,..lost against an 81 Malibu, Big-Tire car running a 496 B/B spraying a 300 shot on it. He tree'd me on the line and held me by a fender the whole way. Sadly,.....that was a $500 mistake,......as 2nd place (aka 1st place loser) didn't pay-out anything. ;m
Got home late that night and finally got to sleep about 2am,.......back up at 6:30am,....to get the truck ready for Saturday's day race. Temps that day were in the mid 90's,.....and it was miserable. BUT,......this day was the points event,.....that I couldn't miss.
Saturday,....I ran my regular class,......Drag-Radial (N/A all-motor) and brought home the win. Been a while since I 've won,....so this has been a long time coming. Ol' Copperhead did great,....especially considering the extreme temps.
OH,......I almost forgot,...... Brett Wagner from the old show, Passtime was there doing the announcing.
I really enjoyed the weekend,.....BUT,... it was exhausting at the same time.
Here's a few pics ,......
