Question on tubes and screwed in slicks

Went to the track this past weekend and lowered the pressure on ET streets to 16. First time ever I experienced the back end moving around. Kind of freaky when it first happened. I want to go lower in PSI. Does tubes help? Or should they just be screwed in? Does anyone have both tubes and screwed in slicks?

I think the purpose of screwing the wheels to the slicks when they have tubes is to keep the slick from slipping on the wheel and breaking the valve stem of the tube
