[OT] Shock Valving

Hey Stan, got a question for you...

I've been researching better shocks for my car and I spoke to the valving "guru" at Penske about their Single Adjustable shocks. He said that with their "basic" road-race valving setup, compression is set softer than stock, and rebound is adjustable from a little softer to much firmer.

Does this make sense? Why would a soft compression be a better track setup

It allows for the suspension to absorb the bumps and will not upset the car as much. And with the rebound higher its lets the car return to normal height more predictiable. Its works fine on relitively smooth tracks but if you get a track that has any wash board surface and a turn before or after then the suspension will be almost bottomed out and it would not be able to react to changes in vehicle attitude.Stan
PS I DON'T know of to many tracks that are smooth.

You mean the stock shocks or the shocks with softer compression?
