Open faced helmets

I getting ready to go to a track rental next month and I need a helmet. So a buddy was going to let me borrow an open faced helmet he just bought off of Jegs. My question is are you allowed to wear an open faced helmet, because I heard from someone else that they are not allowed.

I own an open face helmet and it's never been an issue. I have a mid 13 sec truck.

Lot's of other run with them as well. You don't even need a helmet unless you run <14 sec's in the 1/4 mile on as NHRA sanctioned track. I went to the track once and realized that I forgot to bring my helmet so I ran all my run's to the 1000 ft mark and let out so as to be sure not to break the 14 sec mark. On the last run of the night I went all out and broke the 14 sec cutoff and got sent packing... but it made no difference since the track was closing in 30 minutes anyhow.

Now if your running a 6 sec car it may be a different story. I wouldn't know anything about that.
