Need another vehicle

Well, made a decision today, coming back from lunch... I can't stand my truck anymore. It's an eyesore, and earsore, and a walletsore. Looks like a beat-up work truck, sounds like crap, and all I hear in the interior is the squeaky suspension, then squeaky dash, then dash parts losing their clips, no my SEATS are squeaking, bolt fell off my fuel switch, so I can't switch fuel tanks anymore, and I can't run my A/C because the e-fans aren't wired up to turn on with the A/C, so it overpressurizes. I just went to two different fast food places, neither of them could take my order in the drive-thru because the exhaust was too loud, they couldnt hear a word I was saying

So, I need a break from it, a nice LONG break. Does anyone know of a cheap cheap vehicle for sale? I don't care what, as long as it's small, quiet, and not falling apart, for my 20 mile round trip commute everyday. I swear, as soon as I dump the Lightning, my days will become 1000x less stressful.

Sucks to hear that man. Too bad this wasn't last week. My aunt sold her 1988 Honda civic for like $500.. It was extremely reliable. You plan on selling her? Hope everything works out .:tu:

Thanks guys... I don't think I'll sell her. I made a commitment when I bought it that I'd keep her as long as I can. I just made a poor decision and bought the really high-miler. It was a choice between a $5K 165K truck, or a $9k 90K truck... never again. JJ had it right, this truck will nickle and dime me to death... Since I bought this thing a year ago, for $5k, I've spent over $5k on repairs, including the new engine (and only about $900 of that were performance mods)

If anything, I'll probably park her in the back, and just drive her a few miles on the weekends. Have a lot of responsibility now, between work, LOOM, youth leader at church, assist. scoutmaster for local boy scouts, and the truck just doesn't work out well for all that :( The wife's Crown Vic is nice, but now she's back to work full time, still goes to school in evenings/weekends, and is a youth leader too, so can't share hers.

Maybe I should invest in a punching bag...

Brian, I'm doing the exact same thing right now. I've test drove cars for the last three weeks. I need a break from filling up twice a week at $1.60/gallon.
Let me know what type and what price range. I've seriously looked at hundreds of cars so far, including local ones listed on eBay.

Actually, did some searching, and raised my limits a little bit. Found out that my father's credit union (he's on BoD, so his family can take part) is having a 6.5% used car loan, up to $20K. Found this car:
http://www.bobbellford.com/f_inventory-full.cgi?extend=244751823

Going to check it out today. It's everything I need, cheap, good warranty, 5spd, 28city/36highway. It may not be the best, but I think it'll do good for us.

Now I need to invest in a good car cover for the truck.

Here's a few I've found that look interesting.
1997 Sentra GXE, fully loaded- $5200
2000 Neon-$4900
2000 Daewoo nubira- $4800
1991 Thunderbird- $2800
1998 Grand Am(V6, 60k miles)- $5800
1999 Taurus- $5500
1985 5.0 Convertible (YEAH!)- $5900
1992 Cadillac Deville- $5900
1999 Escort ZX2- $5900
2001 Escort ZX2- $6900

If you want info on them, let me know. If you are dead set on that hyundai, I won't post any other "finds" I come across.

:tu:

I'm not dead set on it, but I want something 1998 or newer, and with low miles. (ie, under 30K), and a 5spd. I did a few quick searches, and all the cheap vehicles of 1998+ I could find had 50-60K miles on them. I just went and test drove it, and it was really nice. No options, except A/C. Smooth shifter, redesigned interior that was really nice, peppy with A/C on.

Bah, but then I just found out that the credit union ended that deal on Friday :( Figures... :nb:

Where's that Daewoo and Escorts at?

OK, hang up this whole idea :( Payment on the accent would be about $170/month, not too bad.... INSURANCE! DAMN Progressive... the payments would be $390 for the next 4 months, and then $310/month after that... even with the Lightning on limited liability. WTF!!! ARGH

I have two vehicles, my Lightning and my '85 Crown Vic, each with full coverage. I'm only 22, my wife is 21, and we have the multi-car discount. I've had one speeding ticket last year for 80 in 65, and one at-fault for $800 damage two years ago (It really wasn't, guy came into my lane, we stopped, he got out and apologized to me, trading insurance, then policewoman comes along, says she witnessed it and told him that it was all my fault, and he went along with it :bm: )

Right now my premium is about $2300/year, or $190/month. Three more years until I'm 25, and get that discount ;m

Don't count on any major savings. I think mine dropped by about $15/month, and it doesn't even kick in immediately. I had to wait until I renewed my policy for that. Between 22and 25, I had 7 tickets. I was driving a 95 Lightning and paying more in insurance than I was car payments.
