Ok so it seems that I have a blown head gasket or maybe both. So the engine has to come out to be repaired. Of course since it has to come out I want to just go ahead and have it rebuilt. I need a point in the right direction as far as which crank, rods and pistons to use. Who would be a good rebuilder near Mcdonough to use? As far as the heads go I will probably let Dover handle those. Keep in mind I am not trying to go big here. Maybe a reliable 500 to 550 hp. The stock internals may be fine for that. I just don't know.
The transmission needs some attention too. I have a great rebuilder but I was just wondering about the kit to rebuild it. Should I go with something from LFP for $700 or would the standard rebuild kit (around $300) work ok for that HP.
The old truck has over 130k on it and I am just really looking to give it a new heart with a little more boost. I plan to keep the truck for a long time as I use it for a truck more than a track piece. I want to get out as inexpensive as i can because this is dipping into my Mustang funds!
Thanks
John
