I Support the NLOC
Hello to all,

Here is a report of the potential LightningFest 2005 sponsors contacted at SEMA last week. We put together Sponsor Packs with event information, photos from past events and ad pricing for the coming years event program. We also included goodies like a dash plaque and a 2004 decal. I was assisted by Roy Richards, who had done some preliminary scouting of vendors before I arrived. Roy also helped to contact potential vendors and hand out Sponsor Packs....Thanks Roy!

The List of Potential LF 2005 Sponsors:
  • Ford SVT - Tom Scarpello agreed that Ford should help support the event with money and visits by Tom and/or John. Tom passed the Sponsor Pack on to Bill Jones, the SVT Consumer Marketing Manager, before I left.
  • SCT - Brian Herron who supported the last L/H TF 2004
  • Moroso - David Melillo Exec Marketing Director. Moroso bought a full page ad in the LF 2003 program, and we hope they will buy another for LF 2005.
  • Bassani - Darrell Bassani expressed interest in becoming a sponsor.
  • Sniper - Chris Stajdel, Director Sales and Marketing expressed interest in both becoming an SV on the NLOC and the LF 2005 sponsor program.
  • Magnaflow - Matt Gearhart, Dealer Specialist, expressed interest ins also supporting the LF 2005 event. He also provided me with a ticket to have lunch with Mario Andretti at the booth on Wednesday...both the food and wine were excellent!
  • Powerdyne - I was given the address of the National Sales Manager and also told that they would probably support the LF 2005 event!
  • Vortech - Steve Padfield, Sales and Marketing Mgr, was given a Sponsor Pack.
  • Meguiar's - Mike Kennedy, Director of Special Events, I gave a Sponsor Pack and informed them that we are looking for a Show Class sponsor.
  • Mothers - Left a Sponsor Pack at the booth and informed them that we are actively seeking a Show Class sponsor for LF 2005.
  • Eaton & Aeromotive - Talked to the Rep for the tow vendors and he expressed interest for both lines.
  • Diablo Sport - Asked for direct sponsor support this year.
  • Dynojet Reaserch - Dyno Dan was approched to also become a LF 2005 sponsor. DJR is currently an NLOC SV.
  • Gaylord's - Lisa and Paul, currently offer GP to NLOC members and were given a Sponsor Pack.
  • Hypertech - Left a Sponsor Pack at the booth.
  • Procharger - Left a Sponsor Pack at the booth.
  • SuperChips - Left a Sponsor Pack at the booth.
  • Stansell Smith - Sells motors and may attend LF 2005 on the Vendors Midway.
  • Schroder and Associates - Event coordinators and promoter...may want to attend LF 2005...Has a jet powered Focus!:D
  • Prime Media MM & FF - Jim Campisano, Editor, was approached about covering the LF 2005 event.
  • Prime Media Truckin - Bob Ryder, Sr Technical Editor, was approached about covering the LF 2005 event.
  • Performance Group - Scott Constantine, VP/Publisher performance magazines. Was interested in LF 2005...maybe coverage?

I am sure that Roy has additional contacts that he made that are not on my list, and maybe he will list them in this thread. So the bottom line is that the SEMA trip contacts look promising, and my portion was capped with a visit to Henderson, NV Hooters by a bunch of L and HD guys. I got a chance to eat wings and view the help just before leaving for my 'red-eye" flight back to Moline.

I want to thank all for the NLOC, NHTOC and FTW folks for making the short and busy trip enjoyable...thanks to all.:tu:

...Dwight...

Dwight, I talked to Evan Smith from MM & FF and gave him one of the Sponsor Packs. I talked to him about bring out the "FRIDGE" to run at the event.

I also talked to Jay Bittle the owner of JBA Headers (whom I've known for a number of years) and Mark Mathews the Marketing & Promotions Manager and left a Sponsor Pack with them.

The last person I left a Sponsor Pack with was Vic Edlebrock. I have known the Edlebrocks for a number of years through Vintage Racing. He promised to get the info to the proper people for consideration.

I will also follow up with the people at Bassini and Powerdyne whom I have a personal relationship with.

Glad to be of help, Roy

Nice work Roy......Could you do me a favor ??? Maybe you could twist Vic Jr's arm and get him to make a new cylinder head for the 2V Modular motor :D. And I need'em before next years event  Dale

Dale if I would have had another minute or two before they dragged him away to another meeting I would have. But another company is planning to do heads for you modular guys and I may be seeing Vic in a few weeks and if I do I will be sure to bring up the subject of Mod heads.

Roy

Thanks Roy

Dale

well i hope they don't all say that they are coming and not show up like some of the ones did this past year. i was looking foward to meeting some new vendors and talking to some of the old ones. i will take my business elsewhere.

Yes, Tom and I talked about 45 minutes, and the lack of an 05 Lightning was the reason to have the meeting with SVT. They understand our concerns and hope to have the next one out in 2007/8. There are reasons beyond the bean counters, and the resource issues, that are causing the delay. Tom also asked about an interim L, and thus the poll in the Gen 3 section.

BTW, Tom is moving to the Jaguar Division and his place at SVT will be filled by George Ayres.
