I know I don't have a Lightning but maybe you guys can help me. I have a 2000 4.3 s10 Xtreme with many mods...I just don't know how much hp I have now. Stock is 190. What do I have after these mods?
K&N gen 2 intake
SLP Y-pipe
40 series Flowmaster 2 chamber 3" in/2- 2 1/2 out
March HP Pulleys
160* thermostat
Power Programmer III- runs on 93 octane
12* timing
Throttle Body Spacer
MAF screen taken out

Probably about 220 at the wheels!! I have a buddy who has a 92 Sonoma GT with about the same mods and we figured thats about what he is laying down!!

Welcome aboard!

220 rwhp would mean about 260 at the flywheel. Can't believe those mods get you 70 flywheel HP (36% gain) on such a small motor.

And let's take this topic over to ALMOST Anything Goes

I don't think it gained him 70 hp, but I don't doubt the 220 rwhp number. Just because GM rates it at 190 doesn't mean it makes 190. They probably make 220-230 in reality. The stock intake ducting and muffler are horribly restrictive, there's quite a bit of power to be gained there.

I say 190 at the wheels if your lucky.Cya

My guess would be that you might be up to around the 180 rwhp area. I know that's not what you want to hear but that's my guess. Ever take it out to the track? That would give you a much better idea of your hp numbers if you can't get it onto a dyno.

I thought stock 5.0 Mustangs made about 190 at the rear wheels? Ya think this 4.3 is making this much? Figure 5.0's ran like mid-high 14's in the 1/4 stock. If this motor is making that kind of power, I would think it *should* be a low 15 second truck anyway. Sounds like stock Gen1 competition!

I've seen a bunch of extremes at the track. I have no idea what all kind of mods they have put on them, but I'm sure some of them are modded. I've yet to even see one get into the 15s. If they are supposed to make 190 hp from the factory..... they must be awefully heavy! How heavy are they?

I've seen them run 16.1x completely stock. I think they weigh about 3600 lbs, but it depends on cab and bed length and options. There's probably 500-600 lbs difference from lightest to heaviest S10 2wd. A few bolt ons should make an average Xtreme run 15's with ease. Hell, my old F-150 is rated at a whopping 150 hp, weighs 4400 lbs, and should hit high 16's with only headers, 19# injectors, and an adjustable regulator. It's already run a mid 17 with limited traction and severe fuel starvation above 3k rpm. It doesn't make sense that it will do it, but it does.

For comparisons sake, my Syclone weighs 3,550lbs. without driver (me), so an Extreme has got to be close to that depending on reg.or ext. cab, plus it doesn't have the front differential weight my Sy does.
