the hail is about pea sized!!

Yup. We caught some hail here in Los Angeles, too. About the size of a small pea. It was falling with the rain and half melted before it hit the ground, so it wasn't going to cause any damage like solidly frozen hail would. I think it takes completely frozen nickel sized hail or bigger to damage a vehicle.
