ON A GEN 1 L, IS THERE ANYWAY YOU CAN HOOK UP THE FOG LIGHTS UP TO WORK WITHOUT THE HEADLIGHTS BEING ON?

You could buy a relay from an aotoparts store or maybe Radio shack, I had rewired may foglights in may 89 Gt so that I could turn them on without any other lights on. You would need a relay with 4 wires coming out of it. 1 going to the switch , 1 to send power to the relay from the battery. 1 for the ground and 1 to send power to the lights. I used an inline fuse instead of the factory one since I ran a new wire from the switch to the relay. Never had a problem with it other then a relay gone bad and it has been about 7 years since i did it. Just mount the relay near the battery. Hope this helps. Mike
