FINALLY! I'm in the 10 second club!

I need some suspension work or something because I couldn't get this thing to 60' for anything. The 10 was on my 10/10th run. My first was my slowest of the day. The truck weighed 4680 and I ran two different tunes. My (boost) race tune is 18 PSI, 16* timing, and 11.3 A/F. My (nitrous) race tune is 18 PSI, 11* timing, and a super-pig-rich A/F that was anywhere between 10.8 and 9.8 depending on the shot. It was more toward the 10.8 on the 75 shot and richer on the 100 shot. I'm gonna talk to Rick about leaning-out the nitrous tune a little. Like I said, I couldn't get it to 60', so I threw in the 100 shot jets for one run and the above time is what it produced. I know it has a lot left in it but I need to do some work...

I was messing with the rear shocks a lot to see what setting would be the best for this track. I ended up going with 2 clicks on the drivers side rear and 3 clicks on the passenger side rear. The fronts were zeroed out. I started out with the rears all the way stiff and adjusted down from there. You can see in some of my last runs that the dialing of the shocks was working for me....

1: 60' - 1.678 / ET - 11.494 @ 118.45
2: 60' - 1.635 / ET - 11.331 @ 119.15
3: 60' - 1.645 / ET - 11.352 @ 117.78
4: 60' - 1.636 / ET - 11.280 @ 120.77
5: 60' - 1.711 / ET - 11.331 @ 123.01
6: 60' - 1.774 / ET - 11.346 @ 123.79
7: 60' - 1.578 / ET - 11.243 @ 122.69 (Fuel was too low and bogged the engine on launch)
8: 60' - 1.569 / ET - 11.151 @ 125.90 (Same fuel issue. This is where I realized that the fuel was too low)
9: 60' - 1.618 / ET - 11.082 @ 124.10
10: Time listed above...

I think I would've ripped off some better times on runs 7 & 8 if my fuel wasn't too low. It caused my engine to bog/stutter right after the launch. I added some more fuel after run 8 and it solved the issue.

I'm happy with the 10 but I'm kinda sad that it took a 100 shot to make it happen. I know this truck is capable of all boost 10's, but it needs some work.

Spencer,
Congrats on the new best!

Two questions:
1. If you bogged/stuttered to a 1.56-1.57 60 foot time, maybe your leaving too hard? It sounds too easy, but what if you rolled into the gas, rather than mashing it? Like try to be full throttle at 20 feet? 30 feet? 10 feet? Whatever.
Have you tried different throttle applications?

2. For my own knowlege, where was your fuel guage when you starved the pumps? 1/4 tank? 3/8? 1/8?
How many gallons do you think were in the tank? I've starved the pumps before, but not since I've been in the 1.58-1.63 range. I might have been carring too much at 13 dollars a gallon. What would you recommend?

Again, congrats on the ten.

Thanks Freddy! I have not tried rolling into the throttle but it's definitely something I'm going to try during my next track outing. I've been told the same thing by a few people now and it sounds like a very worthwhile thing to try out. This was the first time I was racing on my current set-up and I don't have a lot of seat time.

The fuel gauge was showing just below a 1/4 tank when I was getting the fuel wash. I put 5 more gallons in it and the condition went away. That brought me up to right between 1/4 tank and 1/2 tank. When I first got to the track I drained the tank and filled it with 10 gallons of VP 110. I first got the fuel wash on the 6th pass.

Thanks, Spence.

I have been running at 3/8s with no problem. My new minimum will be just over 1/4th.

Spencer,

Good going on the 10!!!!

I would say you want a solid 1/4 minimum, especially with some hard leaving like that.

I hope you can get your problems figure out.

Rumor has it there may be several 3.4's on the east coast next week. :scared1:

Say hello to my little friend

Spencer,

Word is that it will ship today.

Hoping to make some runs before the winter closes all the tracks, but you never know.

I opted for the Bling version.

All in all, I am glad to see Whipple coming through for us. If nothing else, that will add the street rod look with the big 3.4 under the hood.

You thinking about switching???

You have a cell don't you?

Spencer,

Got the tracking # from whipple Fri night @ dinner.

Hoping to have some pics of the install and numbers as project Bling progress.

Main goal is to truely have a 10 second daily driver, in street tune, not race tune...not stripped to the bare minimum etc. To be fair, the KB got us to 11.2 on 93 octane with nothing more than a set of tires on back.

No doubt, they are definitely shipping all around the country for all those that have ordered. I will admit, I exchanged many, many emails with Dustin to stay on top of things. But it looks like its going to come together nicely.
