February 2009 Gen 2 Truck Of The Month – Congratulations Jose (jackal) Garcia ! (NLOC #1505)
Jose, along with his Lightning, resides in Berwyn, Illinois. Most all his free time and probably most of his money are devoted to his truck, being single. As the pictures illustrate, Jose lavishes much of his free time on his Lightning keeping it looking “as new” while improving the performance Ford injected into the SVT truck from the factory. Have a read and a look at the personalization of yet another of the NLOC Lightning faithful.
1. What sparked your interest in the Ford Lightning?
At first I did not know what a Lightning was or what was special about them but I saw a few driving on the streets and fell in love with them right away.
2. Do you have any interesting stories about previously owned vehicles, before becoming a Lightning owner?
Not really, the Lightning is my first performance-oriented vehicle.
3. What modifications have you made to your truck since you have owned it...both show and go?
Shaker hood painted flat black in a ‘69 Boss Mustang design, A pillar gauges, Avic F90BT head unit, 20x10 Boyd Coddington smoothie II's with 295-45/20 Continental UHP's, Pace Edwards bedlocker tonneau cover, billet door sills and billet pedals, Cervini's tailgate wing, Bedrug, HD upper grill, and a full Hotchkiss TVS lowering kit. I have a Flowmaster catback on the truck right now but I have a Bassani SS catback and catted midpipes ready to go when the weather gets better.
4. Do you have any interesting stories about your Lightning?
Everywhere I drive it there are people pointing and staring at the truck, from little boys and girls to older guys, and I like to think that it brings a smile to their faces when they see it.
5. Tell us about yourself, your hobbies, business or work, sports, family, etc.
As far as hobbies go not many. The main one is to wrench, wash, clean my truck, and polishing those Boyd wheels takes most of the time but I enjoy it.
Work: I am a supervisor at an oil refinery, not much to say there just that it burned down last month and we are in the rebuilding process right now
Sports: love football and soccer, but I live and breathe Baseball GO CUBS !
Family: I am single, just got a brand new GF last week. Fortunately I still have my Mom and Dad, two younger brothers and an older sister; the mother of my Godson Zachary.
6. How long have you been a user of the NLOC.net, when did you become an NLOC member, and why did you choose to become a member of NLOC?
I have been on NLOC since March 2004, and I choose to become a member for the wealth of knowledge and the great people.
7. What suggestions do you have to make the NLOC.net website easier to use and navigate?
The mobile version of the site is not very good, that is why I almost missed on the TOTM opportunity. I can't check PM on my mobile device.
8. Why did you pick your board user name (screen name)?
This might sound dumb but I am a big Bruce Willis fan and my favorite movie is the Jackal. I have used it in every website I register to.
9. What are your plans for future changes to your truck?
I will start putting more money in the engine, I also have the Bassani mid pipes and catback to install, and I am working on getting the parts to do the Expy console mod.
10. Whom would you like to thank for help\donations\support for putting the truck together?
Everybody at NLOC, especially to Andre, RIDE THE, 5point4, RaleighsL, and the whole ILLNESS gang !
Congratulations to Jose Garcia and his 2001 Red Ford Lightning for Gen 2 Truck of the Month, February 2009 !
