The last production years of any vehicle are usually the best because "most" of the problems have been ironed out by then(No guarantees)-What do you recommend I look out for?(I'm a 62 year old retired marine mechanic)

I will drive it like your Grandma for longevity and reduced repair costs-I'm old and don't need to go fast..(Of course I will find out what she can do).."I ain't dead yet"

Look around there are low mileage examples available.

I traveled from TX to NH to pick up my 03. It was garaged in winter and had 36k on it in 15 when I bought it.

3yrs trouble free
Other than basic maint
When I got it I did a through maint on it.
Oil/filer
Plugs
Belts(all)
Pulled blower and cleaned IC.
Added a oil separator as well

Truck is my DD and has just rolled 67k.

Im 57 so I dont dog it always but it NOT Gramma driven.

Oh and I use it as a truck.

The day I picked it up in Derry NH.

I believe the 2003 and 2004 were the same, except for the year they were made. I am 66 years old and still drive my truck like a teenager when I get the chance. I would look for an unmolsted one if you can find it.

Find a truck you like, then spend some money on a Pre Purchase Inspection.. A trusty mechanic, they sometimes see things we oversee leaving wiggle room for negotiation lol
