Ouch! That's exactly what I wanted to avoid by using the bronze gear.

may be wrong dist gear or too long of a distributor dimension like Raymond had. this dist dimension being out of spec seems to be more common recently than it was years ago. might want to measure your dist dim to see if it's in tolerance.

Thatís a good point Bob. Just measured it @4.004Ē so it was about 30 thousands to shallow.
The distributor gear has almost no wear on it and the cam gear is all but gone. Iím guessing the distributor gear is to hard.
I really didnít Know anything about this until Raymond posted about it. And Iím really glad that I found out before I put that distributor in my new short block.

All this is making me want to check mine! But I'm guessing that after about 35k miles, it's probably OK.

    Yeah, I bet youíre good

And honestly I would have been too if the clearance had been right. Just an FYI the MSD distributors and cam sensors use a different clearance. Iíll post a pic in the other thread for reference

Yeah no doubt you are good. I got bad information from CompCams support via email which was different when I called. Like Tommy mentioned in my thread, always best to call... But hell CompCams and MSD can't even agree on what a "steel" gear is.

You're right, I thought CompCams was part of the Holley conglomerate.
