Vortech V3

Wow, that's a lot of oil. My TorqStorm only uses one of those bottles.

The blower came already full. I just had to top it off some once I installed it and added my drain line. It holds approximately 4oz. Those were just extras they sent.

Looks great Shaun, how about a video.

Lot more metal to metal in the Vortech. It uses a meshed gear drive instead of a belt, so there's a lot more than has to be lubed.

The title of this thread should be V3 not V2 since the direction changed. I put a 3.47” pulley on and headed out. With the new blower and this pulley combo I see right at 8lbs boost. Everything is so much quieter now too. Even the BOV isn’t “rushing” as much. I’m pretty happy I went this route. I’m seeing around 11.2 AFR reading which I believe is ok. Been running 93 octane with MSD control set at 1 degree. The base timing is 10 degrees

AFR is plenty safe there. If you ever race it maybe pulley up enough to get you to a 12.0 AFR. Switch to some race gas. Bump up timing and turn the MSD off. Truck will pick up a lot.

I think the 3.125” is too much and the 3.33 will probably be just right. I’m looking for a nice 3.33” 8-rib. I just let a brand new one go with my old blower. I have a 2.85”, 3.0”, 3.125” and the 3.47” which is currently on it.

What size is your lower pulley? 8”?

The other day I had the 3.125” on it and at full throttle it squealed the belt at high rpm and lost power. Plus I think it’s too much for my fuel system as it is. I just don’t think I have enough fuel to safely make a long pull on anything under a 3.33”. It’s hard to look at gauges as I’m hammering away plus I’m not out doing repeated pulls. I keep my eye on my AFR gauge the most.

Defiantly need to go to an 8” lower pulley. Then your upper can be bigger which prevents belt slip.

Look at the supercharger impeller speed to see where your at. Your 6.87” lower with 3.125” upper spins slower (without belt slip) then an 8” lower & 3.47” upper.
