Trans fluid

I just ordered your valvebody from PSP. I figured that, since I'm dropping the pan, I might as well change to the Ford Motorsports +1qt pan, and change the fluid to a Redline synthetic. First, would you recommend the synthetic? Also, which fluid should I use? I know the book and the dipstick both just say Mercon. Redline has a Dexron II and Dexron III Mercon fluid. Which should I go with? As you can tell, I don't know much about auto trannys.. Thanks in advance! :)
 
It's not that I don't like synthetics, but I just don't think they're worth the money. IF money is no object, have at it, teh redline will work fine if it's MERCON compatible. Myself I use plain old Motorcraft MERCON.
