Towing tales...

Towed and hauled ALOT in my ol G1. It never faltered or struggled.
MyG2 tows and hauls just like any other F150.
In fact last item towed with the L was my 5x10 trailer loaded with 21 railroad ties. Towed 75 mi to my land. Uneventful. And the shocked look people give when it will STILL break the tires loose is priceless.

Remember folks as mentioned above these and G2s are still F150s and will do all the same things a plain Jane one will just look better doing it.

I dont mis treat or abuse my L but I am NOT afraid to use it as a TRUCK.
Since getting the property a couple months ago it gets loaded every weekend for camping. Since the land has nothing yet as far as amenities.
You can see the trailer it towed in the pic. Has had a couple ties removed since arrival.

Speaking of hitches, does anyone know if this hitch will sit below the rollpan or behind it, google is not giving me any answers
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/273256490021?ViewItem=&item=273256490021

its a reece with part number 36047

Based on the way it is made I would say it will show below the rollpan. Where the receiver installs on mine is level with the cross bar if that makes sense. If it is below the receiver will show under the rollpan and not hide behind it.

I sent a message to these folks to see if they can build one for a Gen 1. Their site says "We are your one and only source for Roll Pan Receivers!" But they only list a Dodge hitch in the 94-95 range... and 94 is as far back as they go.

Will advise.

Behind the roll pan hitch update for anyone still paying attention.
- Big Hitch Products (Your one and only source for behind the roll pan hitches) - Don't make one, don't plan to.
- BW Hitches - Don't make one but referred me to Street Scene.
- Draw Tite - Don't make one but referred my inquiry to their product specialists.

Still awaiting responses from Reese and Street Scene

Thanks for the updates, I’m watching this closely as I need to get something sorted myself

Found another possibility. Trucks N Vans dot com lists a behind the roll pan hitch. Part # CTMHITFO8096.

I did a LOT of towing with my truck back in the good ol' days. Weight distributing hitch (used both a hidden and then an under-bumper setup), good brake controller, etc. Many, many miles towing a Mustang or a Lightning with a Lightning. It's not optimal but I never feared for my life or anything.

I remember driving with Jerry from OKC to St Louis (WFC) in his black Gen 1 towing his black Gen 1. We would be going over 100mph for hours on end!

I've pulled a fox body to Tulsa and back to an hour south of Kansas city. I've pulled an f350 dually home from Clinton. I've pulled 3 round hay bales for 20 minutes at a time.
