Sort of a continuation to my previous thread,... http://www.nloc.net/vbforum/showthread.php/227455-Short-Track-Racing-this-past-weekend
This weekend brought about the close of the 2016 drag racing season around my neck of the woods. I was fortunate enough to be part of, what was referred to as, the Hillbilly Drag Race Series, which consisted of 3 different venues close to home. They were 1 mile away,....30 miles away,....and 100 miles away.
The one that's only a mile away had a series as well,....but it was independent of the Hillbilly DRS.
The classes in both series were the same which was based upon tires,.....AND power adders (or lack there of)
Street Tire - N/A
Street Tire - Power Adder
Drag RADIAL - N/A
Drag RADIAL - Power Adder
Outlaw - Basically anything goes,.....short of a tube chassis.
My intention from day one after this series was announced a little over a year ago, was to run the Drag Tire, N/A class. After sitting in on several council meetings trying to convince them to let me run a Bias-Ply tire, to no avail,...I was almost ready to scrap my original idea and just run the Outlaw class. BUT,....at the last minute, I told myself that if I could get ahold of set of the new M/T 315 ET Pro's,.... I'd give them a try.
Low and behold,...I located a pair and decided to run the Drag RADIAL, N/A class.
Fast forward to now,..... and let me tell ya,.....that was a VERY GOOD decision.
I ended up winning both series,....and was crowned Champion in my class this Saturday.
Surprised a lot of people (even myself a little) ,.....winning a deal like this in a truck
Total winnings I received for the year,... exceeded a little over $7000
This is the most I've enjoyed the truck since I first bought it as my D/D back in 1996.
Here's a few pics,.... throughout the year,....
