Putting this in right now, black foam piece seems long, Is it supposed to seat against the fender wall smooth? Go into the fender well? Was not able to get the filter & foam piece both to sit in the holder at it's current legnth.

TX SVT,

The foam boot is cut on an angle. The longest part of the boot is the bottom.
The eastest thing to do is glue the boot to the end of the filter. We have are filters made with that extra flange. I would use super weather striping glue made by 3M.
Your local auto parts store should carry it.
The foam is suppose to rest up against the inner fender well.
You should have gotten instructions if not they are posted under TeamJDM.com
Sorry it took so long. Been out testing all weekend.
