mass air sensor?

Im new to the lightning community im not sure if this is right spot for this. Im think im fixing to buy a 2000 lightning. Guy says mass air flow sensor is bad. On my old 5.0s I used to run we sometimes would just bypass them. Should I just replace it or go around it or what? I dont know if lightnings act same as the old mustangs

REPLACE IT its there for a reason and I couldn't imagine what your computer would act like with it bypassed
