Here I was already to start engine assembly for the True Blue truck but no........found some miscellaneous pieces of aluminum barely hanging on to the back side of the holes drilled and tapped for the valve cover bolts. At that point I said to the cats in the shop (they always come out with me at night), "THAT'S IT!". Off they go to the engine builder for a full disassembly cleaning, flushing, spec check and reassembly. Oh, what the heck lets toss in a set of bronze valve guides "while we're in there". Well, you know how that goes. Seems the valve guides are unique to the heads. Yep, they got ordered from Summit as only they have them and are getting drop shipped to the engine builder. He'll get them early next week. Hope to have the heads back come early May. Then, I think I can actually start turning this short block into an engine.

I miss my Gen 2 !

I'm with you Scott, leave no stone un turned. Don't need anymore gremlins to rear its ugly head.
