Picked up the bushings and spring clamps yesterday from Summit.

Do you know about how much just removing the 2 leafs dropped the truck?

I’m thinking -1.5”. With the shackle/hanger drop and the full leaf pack it sat way too high. Removing the 2 leafs made it just about perfect for how the front currently sits.

I'm going to remove the overload on mine and see how it sits. I like a little rake, just a little less than it has would be great. I'm not having any issues currently with the axle hitting the frame and I haven't c-notched yet, so it'll be interesting to see what an extra 3/4" or so does.

Awesome, I love it that people are trying so many combinations. Please keep us posted on the amount of drop. I need to double check, but I think each leaf is ~ .375" thick so keep that in mind for the spring center bolt.

Just for reference...this is my truck with the slapper and over load spring removed and belltech shackles on the lowest setting. Eibach springs up front

I'm glad you posted that! I am removing all 3 leafs with the Eibach's up front and shackles on lowest setting. I bet I end up raising it a tad in the back, probably just move the shackles up to the other notch.

That's how mine is setup.... but with Steeda's up front...

Finished up the springs.

Saturday I brushed a couple of heavy coats of epoxy on the leafs. After letting them dry it was time to install the PTFE spring pads from Skyjacker, they fit perfect by the way.

From there it was installing the spring eye bushings which, once greased up went right in. The small end took a couple of whacks with a deadblow hammer to keep the bolt sleeve from popping back out, but no press or anything needed. Just realized I did not take pics of that :( Just be sure to use the Energy Suspension grease everywhere on the bushings, the spring eyes, bolt sleeves etc. That stuff is sticky, you can see it all over the springs.

Once that was done the springs were assembled by installing the new center bolt and tightening it up. The U-clamps were put in place, but have not been bent over yet. The instructions say to do that once the center pin is tight and the leaf spring U-bolts are tight

After I took this picture I had to stop and apply epoxy to the center holes, so I wasted a night letting it dry.

So I was thinking, our trucks came with clamps on the leafs in the rear portion of the spring, but not the front. Maybe that was due to the slapper? Should I run them on both? I do not see any harm in doing so, and it would seem that it would help to keep them from fanning out now that there's only 3 leafs.

I should also clarify, I see some people actually clamp the leaf spring to flatten it out and lower the vehicle. This *not* what I mean, these "clamps" are only to keep the leafs from fanning out.

Thoughts?

With just the center bolt the leaf springs can “fan out” but with the rear clamp and the center bolt there is no way that they can fan out in the front.

Thanks Jamie, that makes sense. I'll pull the front clamp, and it looks like I'll have a couple for sale :)

Or vise versa... if its clamped in the front, the rear can't fan out...

I'm curious to see if you have any issues with the leaves being PC. I kind of remember hearing people say they tend to squeak more for some reason... might be wrong but we'll see...

Yeah, now I need to remember which end is the front. I think it’s the larger spring eye. Guess it can really only go one way

i did this years ago when i broke my factory half ton pack in half, i then put on a set of 3/4 ton leafs that were so stout that the rear of the truck would bounce off the road a bit, and during a turn it was scary.

i had no idea this was a thing. ive only been running 3 upper leafs from a 97 powerstroke pack bolted with stainless allen jet ski bolts. softened the ride a lot. the stainless allen head is round and falls in the ball hole perfectly and holds up to the beach trips cuz that low grade factory bolt snapped on me.

i then cut the leafs i removed, or at least one of them on the ends and drilled holes in them so i can use them as shims to adjust pinion angle and it bolts all together.

the axle is a 05 f250 10.5" with 4:10's and of corse big brakes

and if your wondering about the shock, the original shock mount broke on the last beach trip and saw the shock just dangling, so i attached it to the old anti sway bar mount to get me back home, no its not going to stay that way lol
