Inline filter making noise

About 50k miles ago I got my trans replaced and they put an inline filter in... I am sure you're aware of this procedure.

The filter is emitting a bussing/humming noise I have no idea what this means...

It's easy enough to replace it but I would like to know what the cause is first.

Any ideas?

I appreciate the input... but it's been making the sound for several weeks and if it was clogged I would have toasted a tranny by now. Fluid smells fine and looks good.

Restricted is what I think... and I'll replace it. But this type of noise is something designed in to the filter and it is supposed to mean something... what... I don't know. Only the transmission guru's know.
