Yeah, that 78 King Cobra was a joke. Didn't even make 200 hp. LMAO!!

going by memory the Cobra II and King Cobra were rated at about 129 to 139 hp depending on the source of info. that being said, my friend's 1977 Cobra II with OEM 4 speed, stock traction-lok 3.00 gear and 8" rearend, 14" 60 series wider rear street tires, edelbrock F4B intake, 600 Holley, Casler longtube headers, no cats with turbo muffs and H-pipe, modded factory hood scoop for ram air, advanced timing and a somewhat slipping stock clutch ran very low 15's in the low 90's mph wise in the 1/4 mile (approx 188 hp based on 91 mph). in its only trip to the local strip it even won a first place trophy bracket racing circa 1981 against auto-trans equipped competition. certainly not earth shattering, but not too bad for what the car was back in the "smog-engined" old days. the Mustang II was what was available at the time.
