1995 F-150 LIGHTNING

With Ford’s attention turning to a completely redesigned F-Series for the 1996 model year, production of the ’95 F-150 was eventually phased-out – and with it the last of the first-generation Lightnings. The SVT F-150 Lightning’s 351 Windsor V8, equipped with GT-40 cylinder heads and tubular intake manifold, proved the inspiration behind the 1995 Cobra R powerplant. For 1995, Lightning was again offered in three monochromatic paint colors and with an SVT-unique interior, featuring a custom-embroidered 40-20-40 seat with a large, flip-up center console to accommodate third-seat capability. Mechanically unchanged with its 4:10 rear axle ratio, big brakes and 17x8-inch Firestone Firehawk tires, the ’95 Lightning helped position Ford as a performance truck leader. The enthusiast following created by the first-gen 1993-95 Lightnings also ensured that SVT would investigate future performance truck offerings.
