Drivetrain loss question

Gregg,

You have said our L's have an 11% drivetrain loss, which is a nice % for an automatic.

I was just wondering if you can roughly break it down?

What loss of the 11% is due to the tranny alone and what is due to heat friction, etc other than the tranny?

thanx

I don't really know. I got the figure from a published account and when Ford was still building 4R100s I went down and watched the test stands and took the data from them. They were big electric motors that simulated the complerte powertrain from the flywheel to the rear wheels and I took the input and output figres to confirm the number that the article I read used.
I'll see if I can get you an answer.
