Converter question

My stock motor finally went, and I had been running it over 500HP for a while now. My tranny has been FTVB since 2k miles, and now has 18k on it. I am looking at doing a converter swap while the motor is out. My concern is street driving/launching on the street. I have to admit that I do some Saturday night street racing, and the stock converter has been ok, but still hard to get traction with 514HP/603TQ. I also go to the track on Friday nights and usually run slicks. My 60fts have been in the mid to upper 1.6's I know with a converter I can probably get some 1.5's but the street driving is what worries me about one.

What are your thoughts/input on this? How much will a stock converter take HP/TQ wise? I plan to do around 600/700 and maybe some Nitrous later down the road.
