I believe the use of the filter on the outlet is mainly to dampen the sound. My valve came with one when I purchased my used v-3 kit and the filter makes a huge difference in the noise of the valve letting off.

So I’ve tried the 1” Bosch on the Powerdyne and the Vortech V1. It’s pretty quite. The Tial 50mm with 2# spring for supercharged applications and it’s loud. Now I have a Vortech Maxflow Race valve. It’s 1.5”. The Vortech is not too loud and I’m happy with it. It was the trickiest to fab since it didn’t come with anything. I had to buy the mount seperate and a 1.5” aluminum tube then cope it to fit snug onto the 3” pipe. My buddy welded it for me. It looks and sounds good.

Looks great!

I was reading on Vortechs website and they say V3 supercharger requires a Mondo valve. Seems extreme to me to have that one if I’m at or under 10psi. But… I bought my V3 as a kit for a Small block Chevy and it didn’t come with a bypass valve at all.

Shaun, the blow off valve size really has not much bearing on how much boost you make. When your in boost your valve is closed. The valve needs to be able to flow enough air to vent any extra air volume that the blower produces that the engine isn’t consuming.

Example, your cruising down the highway at 70mph. Your not under any boost but the blower is spinning pretty good and all that extra air has to be discharged through the valve.

The larger the valve the better in my opinion.

I know the valve size doesn’t matter on how much boost I make. I just wonder how do you know what size is necessary for certain applications. I thought I understood and my thoughts from what I’ve read and used is that entry level supercharged applications under 6psi use the 1” Bosch. For 6-10psi use the 1.5” Vortech Maxflow race valve. For 8+ psi the 2” (50mm) Tial valve. But then I read Vortech FAQ and see they recommend the Mondo for a V3. I wonder if it’s because it’s self contained and not oil fed? I don’t like the.look of the Mondo and feel the Tial valve is probably it’s equivalent performance wise. I can say the noise level between the Tial and the Vortech Maxflow race bypass is huge. I do have the Vortech valve positioned to discharge the air downward and the Tial was positioned to vent it upward. That probably makes a difference in the noise level as well. I’ll probably keep the Tial around and sell off my Bosch valve and pipe setup,
