NMRA Invades Houston, Texas In 2009

The NMRA Keystone Automotive Ford Nationals, the #1 all-Ford motorsport show, will invade Texas with the 1st Annual Nitto Tire Lone Star Shootout, presented by Quantum Performance at Houston Raceway Park the weekend of Nov. 13-15, 2009. Texas, the leading Ford Mustang purchasing state, deserves an all-Ford race and show where all its Ford enthusiasts can participate.

This post-season NMRA event will feature special Pro Outlaw 10.5 and Super Street Outlaw match racing as well as special NMRA classes that allow for participation from all levels of blue oval performance. Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords and Tremec have teamed up to sponsor a special Lone Star Shootout class similar to the hugely popular Spring Break Shootout. Bring your true street Mustang out and race with upwards of 100 Muscle Mustangs readers on Saturday and have a chance to participate in the Lone Star Shootout on Sunday. This event will also feature a huge all-Ford auto show & shine, presented by Modified Mustangs & Fords and Mustang Monthly magazines, a giant manufacturers' midway and much more.

Special Turbonetics Pro Outlaw 10.5 and ProCharger Super Street Outlaw Match Racing!

If you think outlaw racing is the coolest thing on the planet (we agree by the way!) then you won't want to miss local Texas racer Mike Murillo duel down the quarter mile with the always-dangerous "New Mexico Outlaw" Dwayne James in a shootout of Turbonetics Pro Outlaw 10.5 Mustangs. Come see local hometown hero "Tricky" Richard Lelsz take on 3-time Super Street Outlaw champion, John "Fire Ball" Urist, in his Nitto-sponsored Mustang notch. This will be the "battle royal" of power adders with 2000+ hp Mustangs...all on 10.5 tires!

Lone Star True Street Shootout and Tremec True Street Classes presented by Muscle Mustangs

Do you have a bad-*** street-driven Mustang? Do you love True Street racing and enjoy reading about it in every issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords? If so, then you will want to bring out your Mustang or Ford and compete in the Tremec True Street Class at the NMRA Lone Star Shootout event. Race in True Street on Saturday, and if you are one of the sixteen fastest Mustangs you will be invited to race in the special Muscle Mustangs Lone Star Shootout class, presented by Tremec, on Sunday. This class will race heads-up with great prizes up for grabs. Any True Street racers who do not qualify for the Lone Star Shootout class will receive a free entry into Sunday's bracket race.

NMRA Heads-Up and Index Racing

Come on out and Houston area School of Automotive Machinists-sponsored Hot Street car go wheels-up in the Harland Sharp Street Bandit class which combines Edelbrock Hot Street cars and DiabloSport EFI Renegade cars in the same heads-up class! Power-adder Mustangs take on naturally aspirated Fords...with no wheelie-bars!

Harland Sharp Street Bandit will utilize the rules from the NMRA Edelbrock Hot Street for the naturally aspirated cars and NMRA Diablo Sport EFI Renegade for the power adder cars. Weights may be adjusted to compensate for advantages or disadvantages based on the performance of cars in the class. This will be an all run combined heads up qualifying and heads up eliminations for both classes in one eliminator.

'05 & later Mustangs will take on Ford Lightning's and trucks in Ultra Comp, an index-style class that allows for all levels of muscle car and truck performance. Come see Jim D'Amore and Team JDM showcase the best in late-model racing. Ultra Comp will be contested in two parts. Detroit Locker Truck and Lightning and JDM Super Stang will run in two separate classes until 8 cars and 8 trucks are left in competition in each eliminator. The 16 or less vehicles left in competition will be combined into an all run field to determine the Ultra Comp Winner.

Modular performance will compete against pushrod small and big block combinations in NMRA's Mod Comp class that will run at the Lone Star Shootout. This index-style class will be sure to attract lots of competitors who read about Roush Modular Muscle and Steeda Open Comp in most issues of 5.0 Mustang and Muscle Mustangs.

This class will feature one bracket class open to all Ford, GM and Chrysler bodied and powered racecars. Watch as your favorite Ford Mustangs, muscle cars and dragsters take on their infamous competition - Bow Ties and Mopars! If a Ford wins its class, the NMRA will double the winner's purse in celebration of a blue oval victory!

NMRA All-Ford Auto Show & Shine

Be sure to check out the NMRA Show and Shine car show, presented on Saturday and Sunday at each event. Better yet, shine up your Ford car or truck and enter the show to be a part of the all-Ford extravaganza, and you'll have a chance to win one of over fifty awards given each day of the show. Whether you've got an original vintage Ford, a restomod Mustang, a power-packed SVT, a new Mustang, or anything in between, there's a class for your Ford, and a shot at the grand prize, six-foot Best of Show trophy.

Swap Meet

Do you have parts to sell or do you need some hard to find parts for your Ford? Be sure to check out the NMRA Swap Meet on Saturday and Sunday. Do you have a used Ford to sell? Make sure that you put it in the car coral for new and used Fords looking for a new home.

Since this was written we got an overwellming response from the Lightning racers and the Super Stang racers we are going to seperate the classes just like it would be at our other events. I hope some of you guys in Texas and surrounding area can come out and join us.
