Here is the copy from my ad. It is a long one. I try to be thorough as nothing burns me up more having been a long-distance buyer than sellers acting annoyed at your questions, you finally drag a few bits and pieces out of them, but then you show up and find that the vehicle *still* has "issues" that may not be concerning to the owner but are concerning to you.
I also have some good parts that I will eventually list, but I think I want to hold off and offer those to any potential truck buyers first.

I purchased this truck four years ago in April 2014 with 135,100 miles on it. It was my daily driver for first 5-6 months, where I put about 7,000 miles on it during that stretch. Very dependable all along, but I decided early on that I needed something a little more mild for my DD. In the 3.5 years since I took it out of DD duty, I've put an additional 13,000 miles on it as a second vehicle.
Paint is a two-stage respray (factory paint on the 93's were one stage) done by a prior owner. I would not attempt to pass it off as "show quality," but it is a pretty good job. Certainly shines up pretty well.
Discovered during my first rear diff fluid change that is has a full locker in it.
No body or frame rust. Wheel arches and cab corners are 100% solid.
I haven't had to do too much to it outside of some typical items you may expect to have to address on an older, higher-mileage truck. Here is a list of some parts and services since I have owned it:
- Sony MEX-GS610BT stereo head unit (2014)
- KYB Monomax shocks on all four corners (April 2014)
- Rear Main Seal (2014)
- Converted A/C from factory R12 (93 was last year of R12) to R134a by transplanting an entire OE system out of a 96 F-150 (April 2015)
- NGK TR5 spark plugs (July 2015)
- O2 sensor (June 2016)
- New (not reman) Bosch alternator (June 2016)
- Struckby battery cables...Google it or go to NLOC.net and search the forums to learn more (June 2016)
- Four new Nitto 420s tires, stock size 275/60r17 (May 2016; put them just shy of 150k, so only about 5k on the set)
- New (not reman) Bosch starter motor (2016)
- Reman ECU (May 2017)
- Front brake rotors, pads, and hoses; Brakebest Select (August 2017)
- Spectra premium radiator, Motorcraft thermostat, Motorcraft fan clutch (August 2017)
- Thorough coolant flush and refill with mix of concentrated green Motorcraft coolant and distilled water (August 2017)
- Freshly powder-coated rear step bumper (it's a beauty..wish I had done it before I decided to sell so I could have enjoyed it some!)
- Rear diff fluid exhange with Motorcraft 75w-140 (2x; latest one in August 2017)
...and, of course, all oil changes on schedule (every 3500-5000 miles with Castrol synthetic blend)
In the interest of being detailed and thorough for any potential long-distance buyers, I will list some of the "faults" or "imperfections" of the truck. All of these are things I believe are minor, but a very critical buyer may point these out upon inspection:
- The cluster bezel is pretty well busted. I had to remove it to replace a broken shifter tube (common on column shift Fords of this era). Despite my best efforts to be delicate, the plastic was too old and brittle to withstand it. The "sockets" on the back of the cluster essentially fell apart when I pulled them away from the "balls" on the dash.
- Truck has the original, Lightning-specific perforated leather steering wheel, but it has a bad case of "the ooze" (foam pad and/or adhesive under the leather liquefying due to heat and exposure).
- I have the fog light brackets, lights, and pigtails, but they are not mounted as I do not have the chin spoiler. I removed the one that came on the truck as it appeared to be a cheap aftermarket piece, intending to replace it with a better brand aftermarket spoiler....but I never did.
- Heat is hot and AC is cold, but it recently seems to have developed a vacuum leak of some sort that is forcing the air thru the defrost vents at all times (not just under load)
- Small amount of play in the steering wheel. Could potentially be adjusted out at the steering box though I usually subscribe to replacement instead of adjustment.
- Speedo needle sometimes gets a little twitchy over 70mph. It doesn't bounce all over the place, but it can twitch a little sometimes.
- Gas gauge needle reads accurate for the rear tank all the time....reads accurate for the front tank some of the times (often sits on E for front tank even if the tank is full)
Fast truck that has been fun to own. Only reason I am selling is because I finally found a 95 F-150 XLT LWB in the color combo I've been searching for., so it is time for the Lightning to go.
