| Moderator Paid Member | First date for the CCCA series is April 11th. Emailed the Ford drag team captain (Kent Magruder) to get some info about the whole deal. Here's his reply: Scott, basically the vehicle must be street legal. If anyone is running an aftermarket S/C they will need a fire jacket (about $50). but that is the only thing that I can think of that might trip someone up. Lightening trucks? Very cool. The best way to sign up is on race day at the CCCA booth so that you can get your CCCA number for the season. Are you wanting to race with the Ford Drag Team? If so, WELCOME! One thing for you and your fellow Lightning owners to remember, there is no obligation to make every race. Only the races that you want to show up for. I will be taking pictures of Team vehicles the 1st couple of races for the FDT web site. Here's the website for CCCA and Ford Drag Team (FDT) Car Club Challenge Association - CCCA Ford Drag Team Oh, and these arrived today. ![]() ![]() Called the "kid" to ask for a bit of help (back issues you know) getting the blower off the Gen 2 to check the intercooler and for a plug change. Then the usual coolant change, fresh oil and filter, ATF and new trans filter, check the underneath and be prepped for 4/11... ![]() |

| Student of Horsepower Paid Member | For those of you that are rightfully pissed at Pacific for the way they run the joint....you might want to give them one more chance. They did a house cleaning this year and brought in all new staff. The new man in charge used to run Route 66 dragway and is supposed to be a tad bit more professional. A lot of people are eager to see if things will change. |

| Moderator Paid Member | Tires are mounted now. The Gen 2 is on the lift for fiddlin'. The kid comes up on Saturday to help with the blower/intercooler removal and plug change. The rest I can get to. Dale, what you say sounds positive. I'll have to pay attention to their website and plan on trying a CCCA race there at least once. After that I'll have'ta figure out if it's the same ol' thing or it's better. Thanks for the heads up on PR. ![]() |

| Moderator Paid Member | The Gen 2 is stripped down a bit. Blower is ready to lift off then out comes the intercooler (CAC). IAC cleaned, MAF cleaned, air filter cleaned. Fresh set of plugs tomorrow with fresh coolant for the intercooler. Gonna do the trans filter and fluid as well as the rear gear fluid. Fuel filter too ! Think the trailer hitch will be comin' off tomorrow as well. It's never been used and not a big deal to hang back on if I ever actually use it to tow with. Probably gonna have a look at the front sway bar disconnect as well. Might as well help the front rise for weight transfer come 4/11. ![]() |

| Moderator Paid Member | Blower came off last night. Tom lifted it off and then said, looks like there's no need to pull the intercooler. Yeah, well theres 4 bolts and 2 hoses to get it out so pull it and I'll clean it. Pics, of course. This is after 2 and a half years with a L & S oil separator. Not perfect but WAY BETTER than nothing or even the air compressor specials for 50 bux. In that 2 + years it was a trip to Indy for WFC 10 and running in the Street Lightning class, some local racing at Bremerton, a trip to L Fest 6 and local running around. About 25 thousand miles. Yeah, it's REALLY clean compared to not having one at all or one of those cheap imitations ! ![]() ![]() The blower. It had just a bare haze on most all of it. The upper plenum had just enough to feel the slickness but couldn't really see any oil & the throttle body was the same. Here's a shot or two of the blower... ![]() ![]() ![]() Set of plugs got tossed in since it is a bit easier to get to them with the blower and midplate/intercooler out of the way. Autolite AR 103s this time. The kid whipped out the plugs while I was doin' a little cleaning on the blower and intercooler. He got done before me ! Sez, he's got plug changes down to around 20 minutes ! Me ? I'd be doin' real good to knock'em out in an hour ! Now I gotta get the rest of the top end back together, light it off to check it and warm it up for an oil change. Just putterin' on it and polishing and waxing the '95 and '02 as I go...... Real happy to see such minimal oil in the intake tract, blower, and intercooler. ![]() |

| Moderator Paid Member | Engine is all back together, except for the shaker hood scoop. Ordered up some new idler pulleys to put on. Oil and filter is changed, trans filter and rear end juice is up next for tomorrow night. Rubbin' wise the hard lid is done, tailgate, and the driver side of the box. Get the other side tomorrow night to finish up the back side of the truck. It's gotta be pretty Doc as well as ready to attack the quarter mile ! The '95 only has the cab and doors left to rub on then I suppose the '94 will get its turn under the buffer..... As advised by MT I checked the circumference of the tires mounted. MT sez to call them if they are over three-quarter inch off from each other. These are a quarter inch off from each other. Also had to get the circumference for figuring revs per mile to input to the computer when the tires are on. Came out to 690, Wizard did ya get that ? ![]() |
