Deja Vue AGAIN!!!!!,this time going just a tad deeper.

First was rebuilding the Kenne-bell, then was lower intake gasket and header gaskets in the hunt for my nasty gremlin (was killed in june), now I get to do that all again and add a cam swap and head swap to it.
Whell I got home at 6pm and cleaned up the carport a bit and pulled the L in (AGAIN) let it warm up so my hands would be nice and cozy warm .
Well a small mess later the heads are off and I will try to do the cam swap with the engine in the truck, if I feel the resealing the front cover dosen't go well than I will pull the motor and re do it properly.
I will be puttng in the H.O. roller cam and probably a new chain while I am there, then the AFR 185's, with luck I hope to hear it run again within 2-3 weeks. I got lots of cleaning to do and weather will probably slow me down abit.
Next task is to degree the cam, then install heads and measure for the pushrods I will need with my new roller rockers.
tomarrow I will pull the cam and see if the front cover comes without destroying the oil pan gasket ect.
heres my poor truck as of tonight.

Oh yeah, that looks familiar ! The '95 went down that far right after we got it home. Then a year later we did the roller cam gig to it. Gots most all the stuff for Strecht to do the roller cam swap sometime over this winter.

Didn't have a problem with the timing cover/oil pan interface (ya like them hi-tec words ?) but I can tell ya silicone is your friend, just don't overdo it. The timing cover set even comes with new front corners for the oil pan gasket should you need them.

Have fun ! Did ya get that FMS adjustable timing gear set ?

Cory, save the pain of degreeing the cam when it is in the engine stand on your next combo. Throw it in straight up and dont make yourself crazy over the minutia.
