| Guest | It's a Dodge Ram. A 17.11 second quarter miler. But what is really sad, is the 2001 Lightning posted a 14.35 quarter mile. Here is a quote right out of Sport Truck February 2002: "Yes the power was down a bit, but the Ram Sport still managed to place high in each category, right behind the Lightning and Toyota." I hope I see one, my 95 will have to make the owner feel really bad. A 7 year old truck will circles around it! Ken |

| Guest | well, the award for truck of the year is not based on 1/4 mile performance alone. they weigh all the factors: performance, styling, towing capacity, ride/drive, comfort...etc. the new ram is the only new COMPLETELY re-designed truck this year, so of course it was going to get a lot of praise. and the lightning hasn't changed much since it came back in 99. plus there is the price to be concerned about. (based on MSRP) the lightning is about 32,000 where a well equipped 4x4 ram can sticker for around 26,000. not to flame, i own a dakota R/T and love the lightnings, but i worked for dodge until 2 weeks ago and i have to say the new rams are VERY impressive. ------------------ SHAKER 99 flame red club cab R/T 14.335 @ 94.90 273.4 RWHP DRTC #31 HTTP://INDUSTRIAL1320.8M.COM ..NOBODY WITH A GOOD CAR NEEDS TO BE JUSTIFIED.... |

| Guest | and you're basing your opinion on...what jeff? have you driven the new ram? have you gotten underneath and poked around? have you read the technical manuals and seen exactly what they are made of? and when the hemi comes back next year with well over 300hp, performance won't be too much of a question. ------------------ SHAKER 99 flame red club cab R/T 14.335 @ 94.90 273.4 RWHP DRTC #31 HTTP://INDUSTRIAL1320.8M.COM ..NOBODY WITH A GOOD CAR NEEDS TO BE JUSTIFIED.... |

| Guest | shakerboy, are you sure this statement is true, "the new ram is the only new COMPLETELY re-designed truck this year", I mean, the Lincoln Blackwood is a completely new truck. Not based on last years Lincoln Blackwood, because there wasn't one! And it towes more, too! The new Re-Designed dodge looks like a Dekota on Steriods. What a gift. The dodge is the 4th best seller this year, first is the F-150. The price of the Ram Sport is ~25k too. |

| Guest | They always give the truck of the year award to a new re-design, no biggie there. The new dodges are pretty fugly though IMO. I'd never own one. The reg.cabs look really funny because the front bumper doesn't wrap around enough. Looks like they cut it off. Not to mention the over-sized face on the truck. lol ------------------ 2001 White Lightning #2539 of 6381 The REAL Mayor of Truckville |

| Guest | well, granted, it is all about opinion. and with the blackwood, that's not a re-design, its a new vehicle, yes. but for the most part is an F150 supercrew with a navigator grille and some fancy doo-dads. the regular F150 prices out the same as the ram, but i don't remember if they tested one, just the lightning, which stickers at 32,000. plus they liked the fact that the new ram has 4 full doors, (but i'll agree, ford and chevy had them for 1,000 years!!) well, i don't do the voting, but i do like the new rams. didn't they have hotchkis and a few others test 'em all?? ------------------ SHAKER 99 flame red club cab R/T 14.335 @ 94.90 273.4 RWHP DRTC #31 HTTP://INDUSTRIAL1320.8M.COM ..NOBODY WITH A GOOD CAR NEEDS TO BE JUSTIFIED.... |

| Guest | 4 doors? The one in the article has just 2 doors. And the Ram is just a re-faced Ram! Not a new truck. Not even a good running truck. Just a production truck with 20 inch wheels. The Lincoln out tow's it and will beat it in the quarter mile. It may cost more, but you get what you pay for. A "Sport" vehical should be that, something special. Not the run of the mill production vehical with a sport decal on it. I guess, in this politically correct world, third best should win! So congratulations to Dodge! Damn, I'm happy for them! Ken |

| Guest | oh, and ken. for all intents and purposes, it's not just a refaced ram. EVERYTHING is new. new engine (for the ram anyway) new trans, new suspension, new steering, new rear end, 20" wheels, 4 wheel disc brakes, new interior....but i DO see your point. ------------------ SHAKER 99 flame red club cab R/T 14.335 @ 94.90 273.4 RWHP DRTC #31 HTTP://INDUSTRIAL1320.8M.COM ..NOBODY WITH A GOOD CAR NEEDS TO BE JUSTIFIED.... |

| Guest | The new RAMs are ugly. They took a truck that I thought was ugly at first, left it alone for a few years until it grew on me, and now that I don't think it's that bad, changed it for the uglier again! Even my buddy across the street that owns an 01 thinks they dropped the ball on the 02s. I don't give a damn if it's the greatest running/riding truck ever built, if I gotta close my eyes to get into it, it ain't worth it.
