| Guest | Let's skip the boring stuff first: Took a 1997-1998 Porsche 993 Carrera from a stoplight - no problem for the L even though the tires were lit through first gear (goin uphill). I thought the 911 would give me a better run for my money, but I guess the guy probably didn't want to dump his $$$$ clutch. On to the good stuff: Was coming home from lunch and came up behind a black 2001 SVT Cobra at the toll booth. He took off and I chased and we exchanged thumbs up and played around a bit. He seemed like a gentleman and was respectful of cars around him. Whenever we found an open spot in the traffic, he would take off and I would follow. Didn't notice anything special about his car except for the "ProCharger" sticker in the window (I had no idea what that meant - could have been a ram-air filter kit for all I cared). Anyways, we hit a really open stretch of highway and I saw his nose dip as he backed off the throttle and coasted to around 50 mph. I followed suit and turned off the Overdrive, waiting for him to let loose. We both punched it at the same time, but I had to downshift while he was already in the right gear. He was actually 1/4 carlength behind me when we both stepped on it, but he caught up in no time. His junk was LOUD, and while we stayed pretty even until about 70 mph, he started nosing up on me and then pulled out about a 3/4 carlength at almost 115 MPH. We both shut it down and I gave him a HUGE thumbs up at that point. He waved excitedly, and I think he was surprised I could hang with him. Anyways, having no idea what "ProCharger" meant, I went home and looked it up. Wow! From what I can see on the web, this blown Cobra should have wasted me. Does anyone know the specifics on these kits (total horsepower, 1/4 mile time, etc)? I assume this guy only had the mild Stage 1 kit, because the Mustangs with the wilder flavors show some killer figures. Anyone else run against one of these from a stop and care to share the results? ------------------ Ben ('01 Bolt) |

| Guest | If it was indeed supercharged, that Cobra should be pushing somewhere around 450hp at the flywheel. Also, next time you post about a race or kill, post it in the "WARZONE" forum. Just a heads up. ------------------ 2000 Silver L 13.68@100.76mph, 100% STOCK with a 2.190 60'looking for improvement! "how much can you really know about yourself if you've never been in a fight?" | Guest | Well, they also make stickers that say 'ProCharger'. I was thinking about slapping one of them on my '78 Ford Granada to make it faster. Nah!!!------------------ Mike Hague '99 Black L 13.36@102.26 '95 Cobra R 13.18@106+ '91 GMC Syclone 12.0's@111.5,,,so far |

| Guest | Nice race Ben. It doesn't surprise me. My best (and closest) was taking a Paxton-blown 93 5 litre. Actually I was surprised he hung with me as well as he did. Later when I found out it was supercharged, I was very impressed with my truck. ------------------ Stevie-Ray NLOC #606 MILOC #21 2000 Red L #3460 DOB 5-31 ARE LSII BedRug Custom mats Clear tails Keypad Entry JL Stage II Ram Air 2001 Ranger 4X4 Daily Driver GOD BLESS AMERICA! | Guest | Sorry not Gitchi, but,, depends on the level of 'Blow-ness' and how the 5 liter is built I guess (Not to mention gearing and that all important traction thing!). I'd have to think the standard somewhat-stock 5.0 and a mild 6-9psi supercharger setup could be anywhere from mid 13's to mid 12's,, roughly speaking of course. There are too many variables here. ------------------ Mike Hague '99 Black L 13.36@102.26 '95 Cobra R 13.18@106+ '91 GMC Syclone 12.0's@111.5,,,so far |

| Guest | Sorry guys, I just don't buy what you are saying about a blown cobra having +/- 430 h.p. Granted, lots can be done to one to make in upwards of 600h.p. and still be streetable, I don't think that the particular car we are talking about was of the 420+ horsepower variety. (Flame suit on) I know the GenII guys like their trucks, but come on lets be realistic. If that cobra had 400+ hp with it's lightweight, and the guy could half assed drive, the L would be way behind. I think the procharger decal was just that, he picked it up at a show or something. See my sig, I have ran at the track several times (not as much as I would like), and I will most of the time edge out a blown 5.0 or a 4.6 as long as the rest of their set-up is stock (intake, heads). ------------------ White Lightning #2252//'80 Mercury Capri-306 balanced, D.S.S forged pistons, TFS heads, Holley 750,Tremec, 4.10 gears, more... 13.20@107MPH//'01 F-250 White, PSD, 6 speed, 4X4, extended cab,//wife's white '01 Sport Trac I have a thing for white vehicles! |

| Guest | A ProCharger on a new Cobra can easily make +/- 430 rwhp with the base kit. A stage 2 can take this to +/- 470 rwhp. If either of these 2 kits were on that car, it would be a very low 12 or high 11 sec car. A Lightning would be left pretty fast. Its simple power to weight. Also, if that car had a ProCharger on it and not a sticker, you would hear that blower pretty easy. They are probably the noisiest blower out there. However, he also may not have really laid into it too much either. He might have been in it just enough to hold a lead to see what a Lightning can do on a freeway roll. This is what I do alot. Bait em and then let them have it. Anyways, nice run. I always love it when I run into a Lightning! ------------------ 99 Cobra w/bolt ons 01 Honda CBR929RR 10.28@135.9 03 Lightning maybe |

| Guest | Uh I am pretty positive I heard blower whine - it was louder than my blower (which is hard to drown out). Not saying I could hang with any ProCharger-equipped Cobra, but this one did not look like anything around 430+ hp to me. Maybe he had the Stage .5 kit? ![]() ------------------ Ben ('01 Bolt) [This message has been edited by BMWBig6 (edited 12-19-2001).] |

| Guest | I kind of think it was just a sticker also.If if was indeed a procharger he should make 420HP easy even if its a PB600. Really a new cobra is lets say as fast or faster than a new Lightning and then you put a blower on a cobra. The cobra should just walk away at a pretty good click. ------------------ Marcus Harrison Member of HARRISON MOTORSPORTS Home of F.U.Racing(Fords Unlimited) NLOC#495 Hungry out of work eat your IMPORT |
