Post Boys i'm thinking about getting an R/T!!!

Okay at a local dodge dealership there is a 99 extended cab R/T with 47,xxx miles it is stock with i balive dual exhaust they didn't tell me a price today they said the guy who makes the prices wasn't in today. But if it is less than 15,xxx G's i'll take it.. what do you all think i know you all are bias to Lightnings but i'm just wondering what you all think about me trading in the ol 3000GT VR4 for the r/t i miss having a truck... and it's extended cab so i can still have the big stereo too... ????????

OK, if you can put personal preferences of US aside, what do YOU want? i've had my R/T for 3 years now, and i love it. but are you looking for a badass out of the box? or are you planning on making it a badass? people like anthony leone, danno, and ronnie williams have made their trucks 12 second trucks, but it ain't cheap. but on the otherhand, yes it has the extended cab....now you have to decide if you like the way the R/T looks. that was one of the factors that led me to the R/T. i prefer the look of the dodge to the ford. a 99 with 46,000 miles on it?? should be less than 15,000 bucks!! jump on it!!

The R/T's a nice truck and fairly fast out of the box. In my opinion, the L has it beat in performance and style though. But since the style side of the issue is purely subjective, it means nothing. What would you hafta pay for the L? If this is your choice, go for it. I was gonna say with my blessing, but I just can't bring myself to. J/K

I would say depending on whats been done to the truck and the options on it, and with the seeming not too many miles, Id be all over it! How many miles does your VR4 have? I know that they get problematic on high mileage cars ( tunable exh, tunable suspension, Twin turbo, AWD... Sheesh.. LOTS O' spendy things to go wrong eh?? ) I actually had a 92 for a few months.. loved it! but got realistic on the maintenance. And trust me, the RT is cake to work on. There isnt really anything you cant get too on the truck just as easily as I could on my 70 Duster. They are that clean under the hood. Just my .02 of course

Hmm, why is it that the 'pricing guy' is ALWAYS out until tomorrow? When I was Lightning shopping, that happened to me 3-4 times at dealerships, and I never went back the next day.

Thumbs up

How can you go wrong on a trade like that! Sounds like a good decision. I'm not too sure about that "pricing guy" thing. Makes me wonder if they were pre-qualifying you! Watch out and do yourself a favor, call the bank and get BLACKBOOK on the truck AND on your car. The dealers go by black book. This will give you an idea how close they are on price of their truck and your trade in.

Cool

Talk to signman, he had mentioned that he might sell his R/T. It sounds like he has it pretty well sorted out.

Exclamation

allow me to assist. up until about 6 months ago i sold cars, and i checked the books on MY truck, which is a 99 extended cab R/T, a/c, CD, pw/pl, and the book with 45,000 miles on it was about $13,450 now as a dealer i know they usually tack on about $4000 to a used car for profit, giving you an asking price of about $17,500. but that was 6 or 7 months ago, and the book has probably dropped a bit, so you MIGHT be able to walk away with that truck for $15,000 plus, if you're considering a lightning (which i have, believe it or not!!) you probably won't find a gen2 for anywhere NEAR that ballpark unless it had rather night mileage. good luck
