Question What was the first year for the Dakota R/T? What colors? Etc...

My old man asked me and I had no clue. Guy at work wants a second truck for some fun. He is a Dodge fan.
Thanks! Matt Andrade

the dakota R/T came out in 1998, towards the end of the '98 model year. at first they were only available in red, blue, black and amethyst (purple). '99 saw the addition of yellow. 2000 saw the addition of white and amberfire (copper), with amethyst and yellow being discontinued. 2001 saw silver and '02 added graphite and atlantic blue (lighter than the previous blue). regular cab and club cabs were available in all years. hope this helps!

If you're looking for a '98 R/T Dakota, they're easily identified by the traditional pull-out style headlight switch. The 99-ups have a grab & turn style switch, a lot like a temperature control.
The '99-ups also had a different windshield cowl, but that's less noticable.
