Cool Went to dinner on ET streets and ended up eating some Chevy Steak.

Last night I mounted my ET streets on my new Weld Draglites in the rear, and some skinnys up front, and I finished at around 6pm. Anyhow..I was really craving dinner and didn't feel like taking the rims off the truck at that time so I decided to drive the truck to dinner.(Calabasas) about 10 minutes away. Anyhow, on the way back..a white 2001 chevy silverado with large rims, lowered, healthy exhaust, possible blower whine and Triple gauges in his pillar pod pulls up right behind me and sticks to me like glue.
Well, the girlfriend says "you do want to try the new rims correct?" LOL..that was all it took. I turn the nitrous bottle on, pressure is a lowly 500 psi thanks to 50* CA weather, and so I turn on the bottle heater. I take off and the silverado keeps up pretty well untill traffic clears up ahead and I let him pull up besides me. Two guys, late 20's and they both want some action..one says "that truck ain't no GM Smoker!" in reference to my license plate, which really should read NOS 150HP So we are at Fallbrook and Roscoe for you local guys, and the road kinda ends there. We agree to turn around and wait for the next light..As we wait the questions begin. I asked what kind of blower he was running and he laughed and said he was not running a blower..wouldn't need it ..I then asked "why all the gauges then?" but didn't get a clear reply.

Now the good part, My ET streets were at 25 Psi for street driving and I had the clamps and snubbers on the stock traction bars...I really wanted to see how they worked on a nitrous launch on the street..I also wanted to see how the steering would respond with the "skinnys" up front.

Light is almost going to turn green..the chevy revs it pretty high and it sounded kinda mean..nice growl to the exhaust, I powerbrake it to about 2000RPM and hold it there...Light changes and the chevy is off!!
I didn't go right away so he left my hood at his tailgate when he launched,.. then I launched and hit the juice just after the launch..The truck hooked right away..no tire squeal or anything..just sheer force as we got pushed back in our seats and went flying past the white chevy truck. In 1st gear we put about 3 cars on him and in 2nd his lights were falling wayyy back..

Well we stop at the next light and the guy asked if I was on the bottle. I said I was, and he wanted to try again..I said fine..no nitrous this time. We wait for the light to change..and this time I just hammer it out of the hole..The truck launced perfectly again...no spin at all and I pulled him about the same without the nitrous. I think the bottle pressure was too low to really make much of a difference in performance.
We both gave a thumbs up after the run and went our seperate ways..it was a great night and I was stoked on how the truck ran.

All in all a great night. I can't wait to try the new rim/tire combo at the track.
