Unhappy What to do when a ricer wants to race.

I guess I can’t consider myself a real ricer because I have no exterior mods or a fart can, but I do drive a 92 Sentra SER. I have installed JWT ‘race’ cams, a computer chip and a homemade CAI built with plumbing supplies (decreased my ¼ time by .4 seconds at a cost of about 50 bucks, yes I’m pretty proud of that). At the local dragstrip I run 15’s, which is not that great but considering my lack of launching talent is not that bad.
Anyway, I’m rolling along feeling pretty good about myself when I come upon a red G2 in the right lane. There is no traffic in front of us so I pull up beside it and let my 4-banger growl for all it’s worth. I don’t think the guy heard it but with a car pacing along side he looked over. I gave him the nod and a couple of low torque jumps. We were pulling up to a stoplight and I was thinking I was about to get smoked, when all of a sudden the guy turned right, without even looking over. He and I both knew who had the faster ride and he didn’t even give me the opportunity to do a ricer fly by, which is different from the congrats/thumbs up fly by that I was ready and willing to give just to see the G2 in action. Oh well, maybe next time. I am Rodney Dangerfield in a pocket rocket.

well, i'll tell ya. don't act ashamed about your plumbing mod, .4 for $50???? that's amazing!! and if you're turning low 15s in the 1/4 more power to ya!! that's what stock club cab R/Ts turn (mine was 15.12). it's probably for the best that you dont' have the ricer add-ons to your car. i'd leave it like that. gut the interior as much as you can, get some lightweight wheels and some drag tires and you'll see high to mid 14s!! rock on!

Capt: No, I got the stuff for the CAI for about 50 bucks. The cams and chip were much more expensive! But well worth the money. Sorry for the mix-up.

Shaker: Yeah, I was really impressed with my hardware store CAI. I haven't broken the 15.5 barrier yet. I think I can by improving my launch technique. My 60ft times seem to be about .3 seconds slower than most posted on the SER website.
