Cool SC Dakota, Lightning and a Civic

I was on my home from shopping yesterday and pull up to a light in the left hand lane. I'm in my KB supercharged Dakota and there is another light about 1/8 mi. ahead that I need to take a left at. There's about 6 other cars that pull in behind me probably turning left as well. This includes a red Lightning that has fallen in right behind me. Out of my side mirror I see a bright yellow Civic cut over into the right lane and shoot up beside me. It's lowered, got ground effects, nice rims, and the fart tip making it waaayy too loud. I notice this huge tach gauge mounted to the dash and that the guy has a buddy with him.

He's inching forward reving his engine and allready got his turn signal on to let me know he's wanting to jump over into my lane. He had inched his way into the intersection so that my front bumper was now at his door. I was in a playfull mood so I shoot him a big rev up to 5,000 RPM's to let him know he's gonna have to work for it if he wants to break in front of me. I let it ease back to around 2,500 rpm's and hold it there. The light turns green and as soon as I'm rolling a little I punch it. Full boost! I power shift into 2nd and leave a little rubber. He never had a chance.

Best part was the guy in the Lightning behind me saw what was going on and was right on my bumper. The civic didn't have what it took to get in front of me, and the guy in the L wasn't going to let him break in front of him either. The civic had to break hard and fall in line behind both of us. I can see the guy in the Lightning in my rear view mirror and he is just grinning and waving at the sad boys in the civic behind him.

We get to the light make a left and go a little ways down the road. It eventually turns back into two lanes and I see the Lightning shoot over and pull up beside me. The road is open and straight for a good long stretch. We're running about 55mph (the speed limit) and he stays beside me pointing ahead like he wants to run. I can also see the civic right on his bumper, then over behind mine, then back behind his. I figured what the hell and droped it back to 3rd and punched it. God I love superchargers! He apparantly hit his about the same time, and we run them up to about 110 mph. At 110 he was a good 1 and 1/2 truck lengths ahead of me and I just eased off. He just steadily walked away from me. Nothing I could do. He was real cool and eased off also and threw me a thumbs up, as I did to him.

The civic on the other hand was way, way, way, back there. As we were easing back down to the speed limit the civic comes flying up wanting to do the ricer fly by, but can't get around us. He was obviously pissed by the way him and his buddy were both shooting us the bird. I eventually pulled in behind the Lightning and let the little boys in their toy go on their merry way.

The Lightning was a '99 or '00 I think because the tail lights weren't clear. Unfortunately I got a good look at those!

Good story--like the 'details' in a 'kill' story.

Great story, sounds like you have a strong truck. Nothing better then a WWF tag team style, firing up the Wok, long grain cook off between a couple of truck brethren.

"good thing it wasn't one of those 13sec NA civic hatchbacks!"

Yeah...right! I think the odds were in my favor on this one... their like what...one in a million, right?

Probably had a better chance of being struck by Lightning! Oh, wait a minute...I was struck shortly after.

Good story!
Just out of curiosity, how much did you have to pay for the Magnum Performance throttle body? How well does it work for you?
I've heard they're very expensive, but they're supposed to be worth it.

Cool

13 2nd R/T:
The Magnum Performance throttle bodies are way too expensive. I got mine ordered before I actually got my truck in, and he was the only one making them at the time for the 4.7L. This was back in Feb. of 2000, the 4.7 was brand new. Stay away from Magnum Performance! The throttle body I have is an excellent piece of work, but the guy running the show there is a joke. Without going into too many details, I had a really bad expierence with them and am not the only one either! Check out Moparchat.com and do a search for some more info. on Magnum Performance and some alternative companies doing throttle bodies out there.

LightningkillerRT:
My mods. are listed in my sig. I've only been to the track twice in my life and ran a best of 14.5 @ 93.5 mph. Keep in mind I'm still running these factory all-terrain tires, and am 4X4. There's nothing else I can really do to it now, and still keep it a reliable daily driver. KB makes a 9 lb. pulley for the SC, but they tell me I have to run at least 100 octane gas or serious damage will occur.
