Post Murdered a S2000

On my way home tonight (Fowler Ave) and I catch a light. Infront of me there is a Honda S2000 and a Pontiac Firebird (6 cyl) formula 1 (lady driven) reving up. The light turns green and the s2000 takes off and he firebird dosent give it much of a try. The s2000 slowed to about 30 and at that time I finaly had enough room to get around him. I change lanes and punch it from about 30. My L didn't down shift though, it just stayed in 2nd. Funny enough, I still easily walked on his screaming S2000. Further ahead, we catch a light. Green--- I drop it from 1500 rpms and this guy gets straight toasted. So bad that I shut down at 60 with plenty of room between us. It was fun but no competition at all. Next time I will try to get out and race him on foot!!!

Saw an S2000 do a 16.3XX at the track about a month ago. Not to take anything away from you, every kill feels good, but they really aren't much competition.

Wink

Just read anything on clubsi.com or whatever it is, those S2000 guys think they have 12 sec cars outta the box......

Still a good kill, the little ricepilot probably thought he was bad.

I might of seen the same car you raced, I've seen a few around. I tried to get a white one to bite on bruce b downs (near I-75) but he wouldn't play. I was just curious to see how fast it is, now I know it's not worth the gas.
BTW - Good kill

I have raced lots of s2000's and they really are not worth the gas. I even red a post on one of the sites about one of the s2000's I killed.

I saw a similar post on the s2000 forum, www.s2ki.com Everyone on the board pretty much knows the trucks kick ***** but the s2000 guys can get into the high 13's stock. It is very dependent on the driver. You have to know the car and know how to drive it. That is why you saw a 16.xx at the track.

Yeah, the guy that ran the 16.3XX looked real young 18-19 - probably inexperienced - I'm not trying to take anything away from young guys at all. I didn't know that these can go high 13's stock. I'll make sure I pick my battles wisely from now on.

I strongly doubt that 0their is any truth to the s2000 runing 13.9's stock. this guy was screaming and I was in extremely low rpms and he still was not moving. Even in the first race from 30, it was almost impossible to drive the s2000 bad, all he had to do was downshift and floor it, which he did. I would guess that at the way it drove maby a 14.7 stock.

i had a guy in one of those s2000 try to race me in my 95 cobra. since i really won't race on the street, i didn't bother running him. i also wasn't sure how fast they were. i was at the 1/8 track one night and saw a yellow one running only 9.9s in the 1/8. my best time at this track is a 9.2@77mph. i don't kow if this guy was a bad driver or if thats the typical times tehy run. but i was thinking maybe next time i'll try and give em a little run.

They're probably good for low 14s or high 13s stock, but that's with really ragging the crap out of them (high rpm launch, riding the clutch ...).

If the S2000 is being driven by a gimp, racing from a roll would be more interesting.

Cool

Im having a memory check here, but, when the S2000 came out, MotorTrend said if you dont run them up to 8400rpm and only shift at 5500 they run mid 16s. I think they did get some 14s out of it though.

Is all that NOS affecting your memory HotRod!!! HAHA!! I believe that you are right about the S2000's. They put out an amazing amount of horsepower for their engine size 2.0 Liters and 240 horsepower. They produce a paltry amount of torque 140 ft/lb or something like that. The comments that I have heard are like "their fast, but you have to drive them like you hate them." To each his own. Later Jeremy

With the S2000's it takes a hell of a driver to make one run right...There's a guy up here that has running consistent mid 14's stock...You have to be really good at shifting, because you HAVE to shift at 9000RPM to get a good time, and if you botch a shift it's taggin the rev limiter HARD!

A co-worker has a S2000. Nice car BUT in order to get good #'s out of it you must drop the clutch at 8krpm as a minimum. That's hell on the clutch & trans..
