Unhappy Well... its the Worst....(Vortech problems prt2)

well fellas...after my clim was turned down by the dealer my mech and I took it back to the shop to rip the engine apart. needless to say...the News is not good... the reason we lost oil pressure was the Crank actually FLEXED causing it to bow and trash the main and rod bearings.... up you guessed...i need new main and rod bearings and a new crank as well as ARP stud bolts to keep it from happening agian. Good thing coming from this is.... Its gonna be just about the same for a brand new crank from Mopar as a 402 stroker Kit (full kit that is) so....guess ill be installing a 402 stroker...having the block aligned and honed... and im looking at a custom fab Drive shaft to keep from snapping the stock one. so there you have it... dealer didnt help but ...its gonna work out after all.

Cool

Well good luck, Tim. The only good point I can see is that your getting the stroker youve always wanted. Im sure this isnt timed right, though.
Are the factory cranks known for flexing and twisting? How much power do you think you were putting out when this happened? Just a thought. Could it have been the block that was too weak around the main area and allowed the crank to move? This is the first time Ive heard of an R/T breaking the bottom end and Im just curious. Again, good luck with your project.

Thanks rod nah....the cuase i think was the mians...the two bolt set up must have not bin able to hold it....the power we estimated on a desktop dyno to be 500Ft/lbs of Torque and 410 HP(now thats with stock heads.) so ye.,...thats a mess of torque....could very well be weak from the Factory. jst a thought for the R/T guys....watch out for TWO things....look out if you install over 500ft/lbs...and look out for the Fastest R/T on the EastCoast when shes dun!! TAKE NO PRISONERS!!! 11s! HERE I COME!

Like I said before, enough to make a grown man cry but the tears will dry up as soon as you find that shiney 402 stroker under the tree.
