Check Road and Track Magazine(dec or jan issue) for comparison tests on v-8 Mustangs ie: Bullit, Cobra, GT

That Road & Track article is a joke. I've never seen any other mag post times that slow for a GT. 14.7 @ 94 mph? Please, automatic convertibles run better than that in 100 degree weather.

Motor Trend tested a '99 GT in back in '99 and it went 0-60 in 5.4 seconds and ran the 1/4 mile in 14.0 seconds @ 100.8 mph. Incindentally, this are the exact times they got out of their '99 Lightning tested in the same article. Car and Driver got a 14.2 out of their '99 GT, and most people with '99+ 5-speed GTs can get 13s out of them bone stock with good weather and practice.

Road & Track only got a 14.2 out of their '01 Cobra, I'm wondering if they are testing these cars with the traction control on or with a couple coils pulled or something.

the bullitt is lowered an inch or so from the factory, has a different exhaust and different heads...i think. its rated at 265 compared to the GT's 260. the bullitt also only comes in 3 colors, blue, black, and green. hope this helps.

The quickest way to spot one is the abscence of the rear spoiler (if you don't see the badges). Also have brushed stainless gas filler door, bs shifter knob, bs shifter boot trim, bs door sill plates with "BULLIT" emblem.

Seen one in the dealership when we were ordering the S/D. The guy had just bought it and was still in the showroom. I complimented him on his car. (now comes the funny part) He said he's giving rides for a dollar a ride! Well, I told him thanks but, for the same dollar a couple weeks earlier I'd smoke his Bullit in a truck. He gives me a puzzled look and I tell him, yessir I just sold my L but if I still had it I'd gladly run you. I like the car but, this guy came off kinda like the guy in Saleen in LJSVT's post. I wonder if he's tried a L yet.

The difference in the quarter mile times in the mags are because not all use a drag strip with timing lights. They use a little wheel that suction cups to the side of the car that records all the run start to finish. At a true drag strip when you stage and take off your tire has to clear the beam so the car is already rolling when the clock starts so the time slip will read quicker at a drag strip. Also most of those guys dont know how to speed shift.Thats how Even Smith at Muscle Mustangs can get good numbers out of cars.A good driver can get two tenths or more out of a car with good shifting.

The Bullitt, has a different intake, better breaks, suspension, cool interior, and much more. The engine is the same as a GT's except for the new intake. Guy in Houston ran his Bullitt with a K&N and DR's at 13.2 @ 104.
