Gear choice for Turbo Gen1 with 76GTSH ??

I have the stock 4.10s and was wandering if I should do a gear change. It is doing pretty good so far. I have gears and can install them myself so its just a time issue and more expensive syn. gear oil. LOL.

it was my understanding that a higher gear will help the engine load up, there for spooling the turbo faster. I went with 3.55s in my truck, but have not yet driven it. Maybe 3.55s or 3.73s.

I have seen a lot of turbo mustangs running 3.27s!

Just my .2

I have a ball bearing 76mm turbo in my Gen 1 with stock 4.10 gears. It's just fine with the tall tires. What's funny is it HAD 3.08 gears in it for some strange reason when I got it and it was stock. Made me wonder if it was an 'Indy 500' edition or something - it IS white...

HMM, seems like it wouldn't be reasonable to put 3.08 in with the speed limiter at 110. Don, can you read the EEC to see if you have a different processor? Maybe you do have a Indy truck with a different EEC

I have a set of 3.55s sitting on a shelf that are used but perfect with low miles on them. I guess I will get a pass at the track and see what rpms it goes through the traps. I am at full boost now at 2600rpm It does have lag just don't know if its just cause of the rich tip in stumble or just plain lag
