| Does it ever end?? | Thought the stock intake w/ hat looked crappy. Opinions on this.. Edelbrock 4.6 spider for EFI, their rails, Wilson elbow, 90mm accufab and Reichard racing adaptor plates.. I absolutely hate the cheap look of using the stock lower with a hat. I know it works, but someone convince me why it works that good before I pull the trigger on the above mentioned. Thanks!!

| Registered User | Are you talking about keeping the lower intake with the stock intercooler vs. getting a different intake and running a front mount? Cost is the big difference, but you can always get an upper intake hat that gets rid of the upper plenum/elbow. I have a new upper intake hat and it works very well but i hate how it looks with the stock upper plenum. I am going to have a one piece made that will look similar to these two. The stock intercooler actually is also pretty efficient for keeping the temps down on my truck(76gts). If I were you, I would just get a custom upper intake made and keep the stock intercooler. ![]() ![]() Also, if you can see that metal elbow for the coolant towards the back of the stock intake in the bottom picture. I had that pipe crack right where the steel is pressed into the aluminum manifold. I would suggest if you were going to be getting a new upper hat, that you cut that elbow off and have an aluminum fitting welded on with a bung/barb.
